Ok so I take a temporary hiatus from TD and am totally lost...... all I managed to get out of the last couple pages is to remind myself that I love Garbage and the buggars have NOT come out with anything new is a long *ss time......

The other thing I wanted to share is the love affair I will never have (not the cheating kind) but this is how I spell drool. Ridley won't mind...... I hope....

What a beautiful bike that is! The only thing that strikes me as odd is how the top tube goes UP instead of down or straight. ouch?

I sure love the Bianchi, i wish they made them more appropriate for us web footed northwesterners... then again, I might decide to not ride again until the roads get dry.

Snap,

I was wondering why you didn't see the Stones in Oakland?

Guess it's not quite the same eh? "What happens in Oakland stays in...." nah. Just doesn't sound right. :p

That, and MGM is a much smaller arena. So even though we could only afford the cheap seats, we had a great view. And it's Las Vegas.......

Once again I am left out due to my body demanding sleep. I may need to become nocturnal just to keep up with the fun on TD.

For those of you sick, I do hope you feel better soon. I have a sympathetic sinus headache.

Um, no, I don't actually look like a dachshund...:p I'm at work, so can't post a pic of me, but if you scroll back a few hundred pages in TD, there's a picture of me with niece Maya, sometime around the end of August. I'm of good German/Swedish/Danish/Scottish stock. Big feet, big b00bs. The wind does not knock me over.

I've seen a Tibetan woman and a Mongolian woman today, both of whom I'm referring to the doc's clinic at the hospital for chronic health problems. They're pregnant, and I sure can't manage their care from this little city clinic. On any given day here, I see women from Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, Belize, Ghana, Nigeria, Tibet, Mongolia, Bosnia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia...you get the point. It is fascinating.

Back to it! Feel better kelowana girl and B3. And anyone else I missed! L.

Bikingmomof3 "I would like to live in an ethnically diverse area. sigh."

Then you'd love it here. With the Bay Area it's not just the diversity which I love but....everyone comes here and brings their food and it all grows here.

Farmer markets filled with Thai herbs and Cambodian melons and Japanese pickles and ..... sure it's crazy busy in the city but I can get to the country where this stuff all grows to eat it or ride near the farms in very short time. If you listen quietly you can hear the housing closing in on the farms but they are still there, thriving and beautiful.

I don't look like my pix at least I'm not green most days. I can personally attest that I've now seen Knots bike and Flossie looks just like that :)

DAR - your avitar does offer some credence to a certain masculinity altho I am thinking its probably not fitting for YOU specifically.... perhaps inspiration for Operation Toad?

MIMI - the new bianchi's geometry is described as: "stable geometry and more comfortable position in the saddle during long rides thanks to the BAT technology (Bianchi Active Technology) which, decreases the vertical stiffness with no side effect on the horizontal one".

So - now we know ;)

CWR - Airports... Nuff said. I feel for you girl.

I'm home. Went to work for an hour this morning, told the kids to be good or I'd throw up on them, got my shi*t together and called a sub for the rest of the day and tomorrow too. Lugged all my work home in case I feel up to working on report cards tomorrow. Of course people were cracking jokes that I just had "reportcarditis", until they saw I was still green around the gills...

I can't believe I am admitting this but I think I actually read Knot's post last night before it was deleted but I can't remember what it said. Clearly I didn't read carefully enough or maybe something would have stood out! Must have been during my fall back to pukedome...

I am in the process of trying to find a new avatar. I want it to be the picture on a card that dh gave me but I can't find it online. Will try to scan it someday I guess. I am the lamest loser of all time!!! I've been procrastinating on my OCTOBER SS because I forgot about the stationary, then didn't (and still don't) have a big enough box- and she told on me!! It's going in the mail tomorrow...

November- you're one of us. Crap, I am not even swtarted on you, except you will be getting October's gift bag that I couldn't get in the too small box.

I suck!!

But Inez doesn't suck- she snarfed down her first dinner tonight with _no_ problemo. It was funny- I put her in her deli cup (so she'd feel secure) with it, and she started shivering and quivering all over! She was so excited!! Frozen/Thawed, too!! Good gilr!

We're supposed to have a super storm tonight. I have to try to catch up on the movie I fell asleep during, Down In The Valley, before BF gets home to watch the rest of it.

Last night I opened a bottle of 1999 German Gewurtztraminer that I bought in Blue Ridge, Georgia, that I'd been hoarding for a year. It sucked. For my birthday, I have a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape, which I have never drank before. Probably spelled that wrong...Plus I think I iwll put a bottle of dessert wine in the fridge, too. BF has to work, oh joy. I will stay home and watch Jackass.

It throws me off when people change their avatar, too. What happened to the bears? Remember when the missing Bruno changed hers??

I redecorated Inez and, well, everyone tonight. Maizey got a new climbing tree. Addy got a small tree and a ton of vines. Choco got a huge vine to go on his pretty new climbing tree. Inez got a gorgeous climbing tree, a huge vine wrapped around the tree extending over the whole back wall, a hollow fallen cactus, hollow fallen wood, and a stone southwestern shelter. I had to take out one of her old hides, a stupid looking one, that she had two of, anyway. She still hasn't come out of her deli cup which she was in when she got all the new stuff. She'll be so excited!!

Hey Nanci,
Ha Ha, that you got told on! :D ;)
Hey, do you know that the PO will give you any size PriorityMail box you want? For FREE! -You just have to send it Priority Mail (which you have to do anyway instead of first class, if it's over a pound) YOu can ask for several different size free Priority boxes and envelopes next time you're in the PO. They have lots of nifty sizes and shapes.

Your pets sound really lucky. They should have tiny little Herculon Castro Convertable sofa beds in their tanks for when they do sleepovers. So glad to hear that Inez ATE! :) Was it a thawed mouse?

That is one sweet looking bike ... if only we all won the lottery. :p

I had a very bad day.

I overslept (apparently never set the alarm), so I was an hour late to work. When I finally got there, they were having a meeting. The department is being reorganized because of a retirement, and I'm going to end up being assigned a certain project that essentially will double my work.

Sheesh. Show up late for work and all heck breaks loose.

Oh, and I completely lost all dedication to my healthier lifestyle and ate a large fast food meal, putting me like 1,000 calories over for the day. :( It's the first time I haven't hit my calorie target in 2 months, but it makes me worried.

Nanci,
I wish I could instantaneously send you the freshly killed plump mice and shrews that I am emptying almost daily right now from mousetraps in my basement and my garage. They are surely very nutritious, being "free range" country critters and all...
They start finding their way inside every Fall to escape the cold. They don't get in the main part of the house though because we have 3 ace mouser kitties in here. But the garage and the basement need reinforcements in the form of mouse traps. I don't use poison because I think it's very slow and cruel, whereas the trap is a lightning fast neck-breaker. (Also wouldn't want the cats to eat a dying poisoned mouse!)

well, it's night here now. The wind is screaming through the trees and the rain is coming through sideways.
No one is here except me and i just sent my sister a letter telling her to leave me out of her problems with my DH.

I also spent a good hour tonight cleaning up the awful mess my 28 year old son has left in my basement. His lack of organization is almost scary; but i want to put my bike down there on the wind trainer, so i need the space NOW since it's like the worst weather for the whole year out there and I still need to pedal.

Not TOUCHING the blowpops thing. Not touching it at all.

X- HA! You jumped the gun on me. CWR- I waved until I disjointed my arm, and then nice people in white coats came and put a nice white coat on me that buckled in lots of places and took me to this nice quiet place and now I play connect four with this guy who connects four and then tells me he sunk my battleship. :( He cheats, I think, b/c he gets help from all the voices. Jerk. :D Take care, hon, and remember I'm always here for ya... Even though the people in white coats didn't take well to my thumb-collecting side job for ya...

Mimi- It's not that that gives me the pukey feeling. I have it even when I don't do that. It's just getting up so early, I think, because I had the same problem when I was getting up at 5 for work. :P I think I just need to get used to the hours and not be in the middle of said transition.

Wow the new additions to your baby's habitats sound wonderful. Pics, we need pics. I am so proud of Inez. She is a very good girl. :) Did Addy eat the chicken broth covered mouse? I am worried about her.

OTG- I am so sorry you had a bad day. Now, just because you ate more calories than you wanted, forgive yourself. Tomorrow is a fresh new day. Trust me, I lost a lot of weight, and I will need to watch what I eat forever. That does not prevent me from occasionally going way over. Heck I cannot imagine spending the rest of my life without chocolate or cheesecake, etc. I just go back on track the next day. Beating yourself up will not help. I know, I have been there. I'm sitting here searching for accomodation for the Ironman WA as i'm supposed to be volunteering at the event. I think i'll be in tears watching the event. It's just inspiring. A few of the people that train with the tri group our coach runs(http://www.wellbeings.com.au/) are participating.

I also looked at the entrants list and think it's great that there are a lot of folks from the US, Canada, Scotland, Japan, South Africa (hop skip and a jump over here for them), Singapore, Mexico and so forth. 849 entries so far.

Here's the link to the event http://www.ironmanwa.com/

Anywho, a cool event is on in perth this weekend. Check out http://www.redbullairrace.com/race.php

The best thing is I have the best view from my office window (37th floor) :) We (Ian & I) will be watching it whilst having a picnic inside with a couple of co workers. This is after rushing from the open water swim i'm going to do to calm my fears of swimming in the ocean.

Salsa-are you & hubby going to do the 'Round Taupo next year??

CWR-Are you back in the cold of Alaska yet?

Nanci-do what i do and send packages in bits if you don't have all the items. I have to do that this month as an item I want is out of stock...

X & Kit..what are you on about???

I'll be back a bit later. I must go & stretch-I did 43km tonight :)

I tried to do some sprints on my ride tonight..oh dear do i ever need work..It's suggested that we get off our saddle & sprint for 30seconds...oh dear oh dear..please give me a new set of legs..

Well, I finished Down In The Valley last night. I bought it without knowing anything about it because it was on a Top Five list on the Podcast Filmspotting about people who drastically change their lives. I really don't get how it got in that category- but it had Edward Norton in it...And Bruce Dern- I think he was my first movie BF back in the 70's. I should have known better since one guy loved it and the other hated it...I'm not sure what I think. It was weird.

I also bought History of Violence, from the same category, which they both loved.

Spent the evening playing with Choco, watching the movie, watching Jackass Season One and Two, (they are so much more refined now!) and pointing at Inez's viv saying "Doesn't it look cool in there now, don't you love the fake hollow cactus, look at her climb the vines!" I can handle her TOMORROW!!!

Addy hasn't eaten. I'm weighing her weekly. She has only lost a couple grams. I think the next thing will be *****WARNING DON'T READ IF SQUEAMISH!!!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING!!! OK, DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU**** cut open the frozen toad I have in the freezer (he died of natural causes, I didn't kill him, and it's not THE Mr. Toad!!!) and rub a mouse in toad guts juice. As recommended by my snake guru _and_ the snake store guy...

I am proud of myself for just letting the Charms Pop thing go. It was hard, though. I went to great lengths to resist commenting. I didn't want to blow it out of proportion.

So very true. 70+ pounds gone and I know I will always need to watch what I eat. I learned to not allow food to dictate my life. Now I can have my all time favourite Chinese takeaway and not think twice about it, because I know it is not something I will do every day. For me, I cannot imagine saying I will never eat "fill in the blank" again. I am hoping to have several decades left on this earth and I do plan to enjoy them. :D

Fredwina, in our civilization where food is always at your fingertips, I think it is true that we are always going to watch what we eat. Our ancestors survived starvation regularly from crop failures, bad weather, etc, we never have to deal with interruptions in our food supply. So we have to monitor ourselves always.
Our bodies are programmed to tell us that we are hungry even when we aren't really. So what's worse, starving or feeling hungry all the time?

Yes, I have a "good" brother and an "a**h*le" brother. The good one can be exhausting and frustrating sometimes, but at least he is always good natured. The other one loves to be in control and is a bully sometimes. At least we all manage to be on speaking terms (except for one year when my bad brother screamed at me (what a jerk!) and then refused to speak to me at all because I wouldn't do what he told me) :D Glad I get to choose who we spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with!

Ah - the fallout from the LV trip is beginning. One of our travel party was a bit out of control. She is newly separated, with new boobs, and an overwhelming desire to be noticed BY THE WORLD -- as in "Hi!, My name is Doris, and these are my breasts!" A bit bossy and demanding - IF she ever travels with me again she will learn to STFU; the world does not rotate around your boobs. My "I'm going to kill her moment" came when she insisted on going to the mall - "I need to go to Macy's and buy face cream. It gets rid of the puffy eyes". For $80 it had better make me coffee and cook me breakfast.

I saw a woman for a gyne/contraceptive visit recently. Remember that I work in the City-funded public health clinic. She was an attractive, slender woman, in her late 30s. Fine visit, we're wrapping up, and she said, "What's your opinion of breast implants?" I thought for a moment and said, "Painful. Expensive. Unnecessary." She laughed and said, "OK!" Well, she asked! Then we talked about it a bit. I love the freedom to tell the truth occasionally!

Kit? Where are you Kit? Save me from this downward spiral I'm about to embark on. I need some mindless fun big time! Ohhhhhh! Sorry I get like this but....
Yup, psoas - spoken "so azz". They start at the 12th thoracic spine and stretch down to the Ala of the Iliac Pelvis (anterior, inner dish shaped part) and extends to the lesser trochanter of the femur (inside notch of the shaft near the hip). Since they're attached to the femur, when you raise your legs or bend your lower back, you'll feel them if they aren't balanced. They are bilateral and contain a wide set of muscle fibers so they can affect a lot.

Phew! I'm exhausted. I need a nap. I may have to go lay down on an x-ray table for a while. I feel dizzy after all that thinking. :D (It really pays to have students around constantly asking questions like that one. Keeps me on my toes.)

Two times ago I got shunned for picking red. She hates red. She can get away with this behaviour with me because she is the best there is, anywhere. I have NEVER had a nail break, even through years of cave diving. I had to quit for a couple years when BF lost his job and then went to school- when I came back- she did my nails exactly as always. (Super short, square) But lately she does a lot of complaining about other customers and how demanding they are. (I never really offer any hints on how I think she should be doing my nails.) She is maybe a couple years younger than me, Vietnamese, left a husband in Vietnam because he was an MD who was to come here but that proved too difficult (couldn't get licensed to practice, didn't want to not practice) so they got divorced, and now she is bitter. Two kids just approaching their teens.

I understand about 80% of what she's saying to me, on a good day. We just got a new Fellow at work who is German. I understand about 30% of what he says. I just smlie and nod and say "Uh huh." "Umm hmmm." It's tiring.

My boss today- I have two rooms to run, two radiologists, two schedules- adult and peds. One other tech, sometimes a student. A lot of the adult patients are there for a Rehab Barium Swallow which is set up by communicative disorders- all I do is get the patient and out. Sounds simple, but most of the patients are bedridden, in restraints, with IVs that have to be moved and monitors and catheters and feeding tubes and chest tubes- and they have to be positioned pretty exactly on a narrow chair and then sat up and wheeled into the room with all their stuff. Turnover is every 15-20 minutes. 10 or 12 of those in a day will completely wear me out. Anything with peds requires at least one tech to assist the radiologist. So my boss comes over, and without even seeing what my schedule is or what my first exams consist of, informs me that he is taking away my tech for close to an hour. Well, I have an 8:30 peds patient, and an 8:00 but now 20 minutes late adult patient, and I start to tell him I have two things that each require a tech not to mention the phone rings, constantly, all day, and it is mostly stuff my receptionist can't answer, about add ons and how specific things are done and about preps, etc.) so it's difficult for me to be trapped in a room and not able to come out to take calls, and keep patients coming and going, and computer stuff began and ended, blah blah blah- and my boss says "Mostly all you do is rehab barium swallows anyway, you don't even need a tech for that, at which point I begin to shout fine, take her away, don't bother sending her back, I'll just do everything myself, that's ok, I have a student and it's her second day- she can handle it- hey John, (radiology resident) I scream down the hall- Boss says you're gonna be working by yourself today, have a good time! Man, was I pissed...Like get on the clue bus and come do my job for a day and see exactly how much physical labor is involved.

Dang it Kit, where were you? mimi will never let me off the hook.

Oops, ER calling me. Gotta go. No nap. Shoot!

When we get a storm like that, I have to think about heading to the Appalachian Trail with my chainsaw.

We've got flood warnings for tonight and tomorrow. It's been raining all week already. Now expecting 3-6 inches of rain and gusty winds. Did you send it, Mimi? My roof is still leaking onto the bed. Better put a tarp over the bed tonight and sleep somewhere else. My car leaks in heavy rain too. Saturday I'll go on the house roof and see if the leak is obvious.

Anyone who watches a video of the actual procedure will never ever be the same.
Your poor friend was obviously feeling low self worth.

I think you're right - she's overcompensating in a huge way. Even though she's the one that wants the divorce, it still has an effect on her. She's not the first woman I've known that thought getting new boobs would make everything alright! When they discover it doesn't, they move on to the next thing - like $80 eye cream.

Band camp? Maybe not camp but certainly band trips in high school. I remember this one to Edmonton. 4 of us couldn't afford to fly so we took the train. Oh darn it took 24 hours so we got to miss an extra day of school both ways AND travel unsupervised. (Oh and I played piano in band (flute in juniour high).

CyclChyk
11-16-2006, 06:05 PM
why are fake boobs overcompensating? Maybe she just doesn't want them ending up pointing at the floor... So maybe she loves everything about her body BUT her boobs... its her body. It does not always translate to low self esteem/worth. (I could go on, but there is where my mouth might get me in trouble....)

why are fake boobs overcompensating? .

It's not just the boobs, it's everything. She's in an absolute panic about aging. First she needed the boobs so she'd feel better, didn't really do the trick; her self esteem is still very low. Now she blows money on every cream/lotion/oil to prevent any sign that she might be over 40. I could go on, but you'll just have to take my word for it - we are not talking about a secure in her own body woman.

I'll let Mimi answer her music question herself.

It's so good for the soul to play music of any kind or to sing, even just in the shower for yourself, or to dance. Making music for fun is becoming rarer as we become a nation of just listeners. Good that the schools are trying to keep it alive! Good for you and your husband doing that.

Lise, mine were true stories, at band camp, I went 4 times to the Port Townsend Old Time Fiddletunes Festival.. We followed living legends around and learned to play their tunes. on the last day, we improvised bands made up of students and did a show.
One time, at band camp, I was in a back up situation with an alaskan fiddler. Normally his guitarist kept him in check, but this time, he got drunk without the guitarist knowing it. So, he shows up REALLY REALLY late (Guitarist trusted him with one of the students who didn't think a few drinks would hurt!!) and we are scoooched onto the stage JUST ON TIME with him 3 sheets to the wind.
He grabs the microphone in front of HUNDREDS of people and starts rambling about something or the other... it was so embarrassing. After what felt like hours we got him to start playing music...

I suspect those straight forks would be jarring physically as well as visually. The Waterford web site show a large variety or forks, from traditional curves to modern stuff, even on R33s. Remember, the less fork rake, the greater the trail. Handling could be the same for a straight fork with a forward bend near the head tube as for a classic fork with forward sweep near the tips. But the forward sweep and thin tubing near the tips will soak up road shocks. I'd guess that the straight steel forks may be in fashion because they look like Carbon forks. But I don't really know.

Uh, Deb, what does this mean?

DebW

Uh, Deb, what does this mean?

From Sheldon Brown:
Trail is the distance from the contact point of the front wheel with the riding surface to the intersection of the steering axis (head tube) with the surface. The trail is a function of the head angle, the fork rake, and the tire diameter. Trail has a major effect on the handling of a bicycle. More trail increases the bicycle's tendency to steer straight ahead. A bicycle with a largish trail dimension will be very stable, and easy to ride "no hands". A bicycle with a smaller trail dimension will be more manuverable and responsive.

Izzy sounds like a good name - now you have to find a snake!

Straight carbon forks - That's just it folks, most of them are carbon - they soak up the road shock because of the material they are made out of. I've got them on my carbon bike - they are GREAT! But, I also like a fast handling bike as well

Hubby is on his way to Sanibel Island Florida today. I leave on Monday! We're going out to visit my inlaws - Don't worry, they aren't typical inlaws, I actually like them a lot. A change of scenery with some humidity doesn't sound too bad at all!

TGIF indeed. End of a long week, and tonight I get to be with J, going to dinner with him and two of my dear friends, Debbie and Mike. Then tomorrow he and I are driving to Galena, a pretty town on the Mississippi River, western edge of Illinois. I'm packing hiking gear; if the weather's decent, we'll hike some trails in the Mississippi Palisades State Park. I'm mostly looking forward to spending time with him. I feel at ease and happy when we're together. What a novel experience! As a friend says, "A good relationship is the "er" in my life. Alone, I'm happy. Together, I'm happier." Tell me about it! Thanks, Mimi.

I do love the sound of "size 2"....:p Nowadays I'm a 10, but I'm pretty convinced that the 10's of today are the 12's of yesteryear! They've gotten so goofy with the "vanity sizes" that I've actually bought some skirts labelled size 6. Now, hold them up to a size 10 skirt, and yes, same amount of fabric! So what'er the true little women wearing? Negative sized clothing? Ah, but back to calling me a size 2....:D

You're going to Galena, IL? That's only about 25 miles from me!! Next time you are in the area, cross the Mississippi and come to Dubuque! I can't go looking for you this weekend (even if I was willing to disturb you and J!) 'cause I have a family wedding to attend.

Oh - I getcha about vanity clothing sizes! I think I am about the same size (different shape :( ) that I was in high school. And I wear a much smaller size in clothes now. I even confess to buying a pair of capris in a sz.2 just because I have NEVER been a size 2 (still aren't) and it was just cool to wear something that said it was a 2. If I was a true sz.2, I'd probably be malnourished and too weak to bike! No thanks!

Totally dead at work right now!! I know what will happen.......... at about 10:00 p.m. we'll get busy and I'll be stuck here till 2:00 a.m. Ugh. Hopefully, there will be some good tippers.

I'm sure my blood pressure must drop just the same as if I were petting a dog, when Choco is running through my fingers or curled in my hand. You should have seen Inez when I took her out. At first, she curled into this little ball of snake- you couldn't even tell where her head was. Just a perfectly little round black and red and yellow ball- tiny. Poor little babe- she's probably never been handled. I hope she gets used to it quickly and becomes a good friend like Choco. Vanity schmanity - If ya want boobs, get boobs. It does not make you less of a person or define who you are. I dye my hair. Does that mean I lack esteem? I shave my legs and pits.... am I vain? If I wear makeup and I not happy with what I see in the mirror? If I get a boob job, does that automatically make me a "hooch"?

If you research the doctor and facilites there is no reason why you can't get a good boob job. Modern science is amazing. 3 people I work with have had boob jobs. Not one of them regrets it and only one of them is obviously fake. And even tho its obvious they still look good.

My dear you did what your heart said was right. YOu're a good woman.

I have to post the lyrics to "Don't Give Up"By Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush.

Don't Give Up

in this proud land we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

no fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
but no one wants you when you lose

don't give up
'cos you have friends
don't give up
you're not beaten yet
don't give up
I know you can make it good

though I saw it all around
never thought I could be affected
thought that we'd be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn

drove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the ground

don't give up
you still have us
don't give up
we don't need much of anything
don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong

rest your head
you worry too much
it's going to be alright
when times get rough
you can fall back on us
don't give up
please don't give up

'got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
going to stand on that bridge
keep my eyes down below
whatever may come
and whatever may go
that river's flowing
that river's flowing

moved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needs

don't give up
'cause you have friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I believe there's the a place
there's a place where we belong
_______

Again, take care

X- How are you UP so early?! On a SATURDAY?! You, young lady, turn right around RIGHT NOW and go back to bed if you don't have work or some other pressing engagement. Geez!

I'm broke but I'm happy; I'm poor but I'm kind; I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah!~ I'm high but I'm grounded; I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed; I'm lost but I'm hopeful, Baby! ~What it all comes down to is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine...
Cuz I've got one hand in my pocket, and the other one is giving a high five.
I feel drunk but I'm sober, I'm young and I'm underpaid; I'm tired but I'm working, yeah~ I care but I'm restless; I'm here but I'm really gone; I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby

What it all comes down to is that everything's gonna be quite alright. I've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is flicking a cigarette
And what it all comes down to is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet, but I've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is giving the peace sign.
I'm free but I'm focused; I'm green but I'm wise; I'm hard but I'm friendly, baby~ I'm sad but I'm laughin'; I'm brave but I'm chicken****, I'm sick but I'm pretty, baby...

And what it all boils down to is that no one's really got it figured out just yet. I've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is playing the piano. And what it all comes down to my friends, yeah, is that everything's just fine fine fine... I've got one hand in my pocket, and the other one is hailing a taxi cab.

That song almost always makes me feel better about whatever... hadda listen to it a lot yesterday... maybe today, too. Figured I'd share it with you, Chica, maybe it'd do the same for you. ((((Chica))))

hehehe. Kit, I told you last night I don't get hangovers! Hope I didn't say something too stupid while I was drunk. Thanks for keeping me occupied. At least I didn't post drunk. **coughKnotcough** You're right tho, it's always more intoxicating when I'm in the hot tub. Imagine if I had the wine instead? Mmmm, Corona with a lime, good stuff. The third one put me waaay over the edge. Hey, at least I didn't drop the phone in like that cookie. Thanks Kit, I think we both needed that.
I'm changed, packed and ready for my ride, wanna come along? I'm headin' out in about 10 minutes. Nah, you're probably still in yer jammies, huh? BTW, how's your own head this a.m.? Nice and thick I hope. :D

CWR - um....er....uh.... Oh h*ll, you know. ;) When you're ready, I'm here. At anytime for any reason, little sister. **big kiss and hug**

Sweet Pea is calling... she's been awfully lonely lately. No trainer for her today, she's needin' some serious hills!

toodles TD.

I rarely recall my dreams, but last night's dream was bizarre. We were at Nanci's (I like how I imagine your home is decorated). All of us were at Nanci's and she was teaching us how to properly handle her babies and then we had a picnic out back in the newly decorated grazing area with the tortoises.

All of us (every drifter) was there and we had a blast! I must be wanting us all to be gathered in one location. :)

I think we were both pretty silly but I don't think anything too terribly embarrassing was said, except for that thing about *talking into her hand* mmmhmmpphhh mhhgmm mm! *hand away* THAT was freaking hilarious! And glad you didn't drop the phone, even when you had to get yer 'land legs' after leaving. :D

I'm not too bad today. hungry. Woke up before I had to... so I'm a good girl...
Gotta go make breakfast and head to work... Alanis is still in my car. Thank god no one has to hear me howl along.

Packing for my monday morning commute. Just got a new lock, too... the Masterlock Bike Cuff. Visual appeal-wise it's so awesome... handcuffs... but for a bike. I'm easily amused I guess. Gotta get the carrier for it, though, because it's really freakin' heavy. :p I'm paranoid about bike security now, though... *sigh*

ACK I'm running LATE!
*runs!*

Isn't that weird when you dream about people you don't know??

Well, for my birthday I will be uninstalling my thermostat and reinstalling a different one- Home Depot sold me the wrong kind last summer and last night when I turned the furnace on for the first time, it wouldn't turn off.

::::::singin' the happy bd song for Nanci:::::::::
Best part is, you don't even have to hear me, just know I'm wishing you a good one.

(((CWR))) - so sorry, but now you've taken the first step towards moving into something better. One of my favorite lines from a song is this"
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end." Very true. I will wish you a good beginning for this point in your life.

Yes, and yet it all was so real, if that makes any sense. Even the feel of the snakes and Mr. Toad. :)

Sven: Well, the sex is still the same, but the dishes are stacking up.

Hi TD - I *think* I am feeling better today. Stayed home from work for a couple of days and haven't eaten much but hopefully I will get back to normal over the weekend. On a positive note, I lost 2 lbs overall this week so I only have 3 1/2 more lbs to go before New Year's Day. Might be tough over Xmas but I'll try.

It was such a beautiful and relatively warm day on Thursday (low 50's) that I was dying to get out on my bike. Those kinds of days are few and far between now. Probably won't get out this weekend either since dh and I both have to do report cards all weekend. Plus it's Grey Cup tomorrow GO LIONS!!! Anyway, I'm just rambling this morning... Guess I'd better get to work...

Well I went to Apple Support and it was suggested that I open a test admin account. I did and it runs fine. It must be my own regular desktop account. I have asked a question in support and hope to get an answer soon. If not, I may just everything over to a the new account but it means changing the permissions on all my files etc. Ugh. What are you running? I only have OSX 10.3.9 on a 2 year old emac...

I am having a GREAT birthday so far!!

First, last night was the first night I felt I needed to turn on the heat. (Got down to 38F here in Florida) I had programmed the new-last-summer thermostat for heating a couple days ago, so it was all set to go. The furnace, -excuse me- heat pump ran all night. It was 78 when I got up! I called the help line, who promptly diagnosed that Home Depot had sold me the wrong kind of thermo- I needed one that would work with a heat pump. Ok, HD exchanged it no questions asked for the $35 more expensive heat pump model. Which I have now installed and it appears to work correctly.

During all that, friends stopped over with a present (not a snake :-( ) and I wanted to show Choco to them. I thought he would be where he is 95% of the time, under his moist hide which I leave in with him because he likes to sleep under it. Not there. Ok, then he must be on the heater. Nope. I eventually pull all hides and trees and vines out, sift through the aspen- no Choco!! I didn't see him last night- but I am positive that his lid was secure. DOH!! Forgot to look in the moist hide...He was quite irritated and musked my friend.

Then I thought I would check on my Fagalo, who is currently brumating outside for the first time. He'd been half burying himself for a few days before it got cold, so a few days ago in preparation for the cold weather I put in an 18" deep layer of peat, covered by dried pine needles and weeds and weathered cardboard. So he's under a huge pile in his hibernaculum. I get in his enclosure, and reach my arm in up to my shoulder at ground level and feel where I knew he had his scrape. No turtle. I feel all over the whole ground- no turtle. I check the sides to see if he has somehow burrowed out- but no- and he's not a digger anyway. So I pull off the pile of dried vegetation, and sift through all the peat and expose all the ground. No turtle. Then I sort through the pile of vegetation, and there he is! I put him back in his scrape and covered him up. He is doing fine. I probably should just leave him alone, but it's the first time he's brumated outside for me- and I know when people have them inside, in boxes, they get checked on weekly.

Anyway, that's my birthday so far!!

On the wine menu tonight is the first bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape that I have ever drank. Also I have a Jepson white blend in the fridge. I drank the Jepson Screaming Rose (100% Grenache) last night and it was VERY dry. And there is also a bottle of Florida White Muscadine, the Magnolia Muscadine variety, which I have not drank before.

Not sure what is for dinner- BF is working 10AM till 3AM. Perhaps chocolate.

CWR,
It 's like Nanci said about the closed door thing.
One of my favorite sayings is:
We must give up the life we had planned
if we are to lead the life that lies before us.

Time will heal the heart. Take care of yourself.

That's beautiful Lisa. You have such great words of wisdom.

Happy Birthday Nanci!!

And Nanci, I have to confess that I didn't get the snake thing at first. I like how you explained it in one of your recent posts though and I understand. I can see their beauty in your pictures and how you talk about them. Thanks for sharing that and opening my mind to something new!

((((CWR))) It's all been said and my phone line and home are open to you any time. Love on that puppy and ride that bike - its very good therapy. Doing the right thing is never easy. My saying that helped me was "if He leads you to it, He'll lead you through it."

Went out with my friend Steve last night. Had a couple drinks but behaved myself - we did hold hands though. Slept in this morning then walked my dogs for 4 miles. Now I'm trying to catch up with you chatty TD'ers.
Did I tell you my chiro told me he'd get me to a point where I could run again and "then I'd be an athlete"? A$$hole. That pissed me off. I am an athlete with a winter layer on:p

Off to order my buffs then organize my closet while listening to Meatloaf and drinking a merlot. I'll check back later gators...

We are getting ready for the twins' birthday dinner. They can choose whatever they want and they chose food from DLM, so pasta salads all around. :) Saves me from cooking. While they are out I will be decorating then we are going to eat two cakes (one is a Killer Brownie cake the other is a Mile High Cheesecake), open gifts and watch the movie 8 Below.

Today has been a very lazy day for me. No exercise, no running. I know it is okay and even good to take a day off, yet I feel like a slug. I am not going to even think about the calories I shall be consuming tonight. :o
