Today:
B: ground beef over spinach, fermented veggies, coffee
kettlebell training session with a bit of extra work after with coach - followed by protein shake
L: pulled pork over MORE spinach (grocery time), fermented pickles
Had some extra money come in, so drove to my favorite farmer/purveyor of pastured pork/poultry and grass-fed/finished beef for a freezer-stocking trip. No need to buy protein now for some time to come! I still couldn't do it if their prices weren't so reasonable!
D: chicken sausage, mixed green salad
Cooked HUGE batch of my favorite chocolate chili (7 quart dutch oven was filled). While it is now in the fridge and I will freeze some of it for the future, I can tell that it may be my best batch ever :-)

Fårikål was amazing tonight. Too bad Norman isn't around to eat it one last time. It was so easy to make: we used chicken stock, front lamb shank, cabbage, peppercorn and bit of salt. We thought about how to go about it and settled on using a crock pot of all things. Leg was only partially covered in stock, threw in about six peppercorn and cooked for about 3 hours than we added roughly chopped half a head of cabbage and added bit of salt and cooked it down for another two hours or so.
IT IS SO SO GOOD! And so easy. OH MY!!! You really need to try it!! Meat fell off the bone the cabbage cooked to perfection. And the cabbage had the sweetness. Hard to describe how good it was. When I know I'm going to be tired in the evening, I'll start this in the crock around lunch time. That way, all I have to do is serve myself a hearty meal in the evening with some boiled potato and chopped parsley.
Oh I also had ginger infused mead from nectar creek.
I wish I had made more tonight. sniff.
Skol Norman!! party it up in Valhalla with Odin!!

Apparently I got mild food poisoning today. I ate Alfredo pasta sauce that's been open in my fridge for 3.5 weeks. It didn't look or smell funny. But it did a number on me

Had corned beef with cabbage. :( i ate it because I was hungry. Lots of mustard helped. So similar to fårikål, yet one was so yummy and the other, well not so much. One was made with lamb shank with bones, peppercorn and cabbage. The other corned beef (with salt blanched out), peppercorn, allspice, clove, coriander, bay leaf and cabbage. More spice doesn't make it better.
meh!! brighter side of things. No more corned beef in the house.
...
maybe because we rarely eat beef. It'll probably be two years before I eat any beef again. But I do like yak, chicken, lamb, pork all free ranged or pasture raised. not grain fed.

I am genuinely interested in what other people eat on a daily basis-- especially here at a women's cycling forum! I want to know how people eat before big races and long rides. I'm curious to see what kind of spread we have here.
I will start :D
Today I ate:
No breakfast :( That's a huge no-no, but I woke up late and didn't have time to grab anything before swimming this morning!
Lunch:
Gardenburger without the bun
A heap of steamed broccoli
Roasted cherry tomato salad
A couple ounces of turkey on the side
Dinner:
A large bowl of brown rice with two eggs scrambled and delicious kimchi
Glass of OJ

What did you do for exercise today and how did it go?
I went for 60 min easy run through my local park and spent 30mins on my yoga mat afterwards. Run was good run, my legs felt injury free yeww & my yoga afterwards really got me up on that endorphin buzz.

Rest day really. Two doggo walks in the rain in the woods only.
Yesterday an hour of Tai Chi that was tough on the legs. The rest of the previous week doing an hour or so body weight fitness daily. Add to that 20 minutes or so Tai Chi.
Going to check out a local Aikido class tomorrow, the previous art I did, to get back into that. Then my workout routine will look like 2 scheduled days of martial arts interspersed with body weight fitness.

Don't forget to do some social distancing while outdoors. As a person who's been taking up running as my exercise for 15 years, I had no choice but to run using my treadmill (safer than being outside due to coronavirus.)
