What about the anonymous wheelsucker? Sometimes they get to me too. A couple weeks ago I was doing a 30min interval (TT zone) with a buddy. He was on his TT bike with a 56T chainring (!) and so I only held onto him for about the first 5 minutes. After that I was solo until we regrouped. Well the Thursday night sprint crew was beginning to show up, and I pass some guy from a local team who is out warming up for the sprints when I was on the last lap of my interval (I was doing the final lap all out). He latches onto my wheel. How annoying. Can't you see I'm working here? So I think, ok, well the sprint line is at the end of the lap, so I'll just go for it. On that stretch, I start ramping up the pace slowly. He's still there. Great. He's going to try to use me as a leadout! I really rev it up starting around 1km to go, holding strong at 500m. I hear him right behind me. 200m, shift. 100m jump. I see him out of the corner of my eye trying to pull around to the left. I keep going. I have tunnel vision and want to throw up. I win the sprint by most of a bike length. Hah. And I'm no sprinter, especially without a leadout of my own. He got chicked by a girl who had been going at least 85% of max for the past half hour. My training buddy had a similar problem during his interval and he asked his wheelsucker not so nicely to get the F* off his wheel.
