    Angry passing then slowing down.

Another pet peeve of mine besides blowing through the lights, stop signs and othe infractions.

When I'm out training, I want to train. I'm not there socializing, I'm not just tootin' along. I HAVE A PURPOSE!!! I'm nice and stop and ask you if you need help. I'll engage in small talk at stop lights. I'm not totally unsocial but... if you are going to pass me then pass me and keep pulling away from me. Don't pass then slow down below my speed. I have to speed up and pass you. This upsets my rythm of things.

So I "played" leap frog with this guy for about 3 times. By the third time I was passing (trying to pass) him, he decided he wanted to stay in front of me. So he would speed up, I go back down to my pace and he slowed down. I would speed up to pass then he sped up. Most irratating. My bad attitude got the better of me. After three or so times of this non-sense I finally had enough and decided to hammer on a slight incline. See if he wanted to respond. I guess I still have it in me. I went onto my drops, managed to get it up to 23MPH then when the road leveled out, I managed to get my pace up to 25-26MPH and held it there for about two miles. Irritating guy is gone. Yipee!! (still really sad to what I once could)

That was last friday. I'm still hurting today. my quads are burning from trying to go up a flight of stairs. my ham strings are going oui oui oui while sitting in my chair, my glutes are no happier either and calves are hard as a rock from being all knotted up. My back is fine though But, it's already Monday. I must be getting old. The good news/bad news is I've got an appointment for Rolfing tomorrow.

Saturday was an easy 20miler with only 1500feet of climb. Sunday, I rode with 30lb of cat food in my day pack for a delivery then spent 20 minutes on my trainer. That was all I had in me. today no ride. forget about my scheduled 40 mile training ride for today. I'm soo toasted it's really sad.

Maybe I'll hop on a trainer tomorrow evening for about an hour and half. I really should hook up a generator. I know I'm still good for 100w/hr or more.

commute on a bike?? r u kiddin me? I'm still working on that one.

Couple things to remember. First, men hate to get chicked. Hell, some women hate to get chicked. Next time a guy does that to you, remember that he must be overcompensating for something...

Another thing is to remember that folks could be out doing an interval workout. For example, I've done workouts such as 5X1min all-out efforts with 3 minutes rest or so. During those workouts, I'm really trying on the 1 minutes and will go easy, real easy on the rest minutes.

But I totally understand your frustration!

People do the same thing in cars. They have no idea how fast they're going but if someone tries to pass them, it reminds them that They Need To Go Faster. At least when you have to go way too fast in a car to get well beyond them before they give up, you're "only" risking a ticket.

Anyway good job making him eat your dust!

Oooh, that is soooo annoying. I encountered that this past weekend. Person not only passed me, but starting weaving and falling back on the hill and I had to pass him to get away from it.

oooooooooooooooooooh that's what you call it. I got chicked yesterday too.
I was waiting at the light and she was somewhere behind, so when the light turned green, she barreled on through, not having to slow down, she left me in her dust. I was annoyed so i did my best to catch up to her and I did, but unfortunately she turned before I could pass her. wah. i got Chicked.

    cell phones

All right, I'll admit it, I chicked a chick. But the girl was in the left side of the bike lane, on a busy road, you guessed it, dialing a cell phone. I resisted the urge to knock it out of her hand (the little red dude on my shoulder talking). But come on!!!!!! Oh and yes I agree, guys HATE to get chicked. It's fun though.

Oh I hate this too. I think sometimes it's folks you pass that don't have computers. They latch onto your wheel and think they can pull the same speed when they forget that they've got the benefit of the draught. Then they get ballzy and hop in front of you and slow down immediately.

I've had this done to me a few times and it never ceases to completely ruin a good ride for me.

I too chicked a chick today and enjoyed the chase to accomplish this task. The best part was as I passed her and the guy she was riding with she exclaimed "where did she come from?" I just smiled and kept pedaling.

Haha, I chicked a guy today but I wasn't trying to be nasty and he WAS on a mountain bike. I caught up with him at a light but he was still ahead of me. We were getting close to my big hill so I didn't feel like going very hard. I saw his massive calves and quads and decided not to bother passing him. Well he saw me behind him (I stayed fairly well back) and I guess he kept expecting me to pass him but I just toodled along to get my legs rested for the climb. I could see he was working hard to stay ahead of me and he kept checking to see if I was still there. Eventually, the grade increased a little bit and I started to gain on him so I decided enough as enough and it was time to pass. I jumped from 20kmh to 30 kmh in one shift change and flew by him, smiling a hello as I went by. He was friendly and said hi back. I think he was relieved that I was past him though...
