    Weigh-in Week of March 3

    Anyone still need to do this for the motivation because I find it does help me...

    I hate to admit I have not lost one ounce for the past three weeks. I am still exactly 122.1 Maybe my scale is stuck. I was supposed to be 120 by March 1. Oh well, as long as I reach my goal of 115 by July 1st and my weight doesn't go UP...

    Last night I took a look at my measurements from March last year and compared them to now. I have lost 20 inches over all. 4 inches each of my waist, hips, tummy and 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 inches off my arms, thighs, bust etc... The only place I haven't lost any inches are my calves but they don't have any fat on them so that's probably why. I have dropped 2-3 sizes as well. I was wearing a 10 and now I'm back to a 6. Yay! I'm still not "bikini worthy" and my fat %age is not low enough yet so I am going to continue to work at it. I really want to see if I can get down to an athelete's body for this one summer and see if it makes any difference to my biking. After that I'm going to just enjoy life and let my weight settle wherever it does. Within reason of course. I would be content with 122-125 in the end.

    Today's weigh in was the milestone of 5 pounds lost since Jan 1. Yay! My weight loss has not exactly gone as planned, since I have not been exercising as much as I want to....but these health issues will begin to normalize, I hope, and I can push myself a bit harder then.

    When the season gets into full swing I'm sure you'll start to see the firming that you'd like. In the meantime be super proud of the changes you've already made! You've done so well in the last year! Three cheers for Kelownagirl!

    Frustrating Progress

    Outstanding Progress. Let's keep focused...I keep reminding myself, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

    Two pounds for me this week, but I'm hugely frustrated with daily fluctuations. I'm down 23 pounds since 12/30, but progress has slowed considerably.

    I know, you're going to say "don't weigh yourself daily", but I find that regular 'feedback' to keep the discipline.

    BIG CONGRATS! That is outstanding progress. Perhaps you really have reached a natural minimum. When I was younger, just like you I lost a lot of weight but stalled around 120, and then I really upped my marathon training and cut out more food to get to 115, but when I checked my bodyfat, I realized that to get below 120 I had to start losing muscle, which backfired, and then I rapidly gained the weight back and more, losing my calorie burning muscle tissue! I am also curious what your starting weight was a year ago.

    My focus has been on lean muscle. I wear a size 6 and plan to stay in a 6. Anything smaller (and I have been a size 0), I personally do not think looks good on me, I like curves.

    Since changing my routine almost 4 weeks ago, I have shed 12 pounds, but more importantly for me, 8". I have not yet taken my measurements for this week, but guess another 2" change.

    Off the top of my head, I do not have my body fat % decrease, but it has steadily declined. Yippee!

    Overall, in the past year I have shed 60 pounds and 59" overall.

    It took me 2 pregnancies and years of not caring to gain, so I expect a slow, slow change in my body. healthy is good.

    Yikes- I am back to 140-(that is up about .5lb)
    I think my body loves being at 140 I have to really struggle to get below that.
    This week I was eating real food again (vs. the cleanse food)so that is likely part of it-and knowing myself, it is not what I'm eating-which is really good stuff- but the volume that I am eating too bad I really love to eat.
    My exercise this week
    Sunday swim-2000m
    Tues run 8km
    Wed bike- killer suffer-o-rama compliments of evil troy
    Sat- long slow run 2hr.10 min.

    looking back, I do see that I missed a few workout this lst week too! Better get back on track this week.

    I wish I had thought of measuring myself first- it would be nice to see that number change as well as weight.

    Measure yourself now. It is very satisfying to see areas tone up and tose numbers change.

    I was 141 lbs a year ago. I "dieted" from April - July and lost about 11 lbs. I also started riding then and that contributed to the loss for sure. Then I just enjoyed my summer, rode lots, and ate what I wanted - gained back only 2 lbs. I dieted again in the fall and lost another 6 lbs and then enjoyed th Christmas break - gained back 2 lbs again. Then I started dieting again in January. This has been the hardest session because I am dieting but I am just barely losing weight. I suspect that it is the lack of exercise but I am at least happy that I am not gaining weight which I would be if I ate the way I used to. Once I can get a regular 100-150 km in a week, it'll be interesting to see if the fat comes off more easily. If not, I will resign myself to this weight. I think I look great right now, in regular clothes anyway. And maybe those tummy rolls from 3 pregnancies will never go away eh? I also working hard at the weights so I don't lose muscle. Ultimately, it won't be the weight I look at, it'll be the measuring tape and the appearance.

    Congrats on your losses everyone! BMO - 59" wow! That is amazing and it sounds like you have a very good, realistic "plan." I think the hardest thing for me (and probably most people) when I started "dieting," was not expecting huge drops. The miracle diets just don't happen. I am content with long-term goals (25 lbs in 15 months) and I take breaks to enjoy life too. When I get married in two weeks, there is no way I'm going to diet. I may gain back a pound or two but what the heck. I have no intentions to be less than a size 6 either. I want to have boobs for one thing.

    I often use the word "diet" in quotations because it's not really a diet per se for me anymore. It's just thoughtful healthy eating. I DO count calories when I am "dieting" if nothing else but to stop myself from silly eating - handfuls of this and that, thoughtless calories for no good reason.

    Thank you. I am where I want to be weight wise. I am now focusing on lean muscle build-up and maintaining my size 6 body.

    Wow, great job everyone. I'm always so glad to come back here for motivation.

    Things are not moving for me, I've gained two pounds lost no inches and I can't figure it out!

    I started a vegetarian diet late last year, stick to 1200-1300 calories a day (using calorie king to track my food) and work out 5-6 days a week (strength and aerobic) and NADA, ZIP, NOTHING. I'd be fine if I was gaining, but losing inches. Aargh!

    Good thing I can reflect on your suceess to keep me going, thanks everyone for sharing, it keeps me focused.

    Have you thought of increasing your daily caloric intake? You are exercising quite a bit, so it may be the boost your body needs.

    Jumping on the band wagon

    Hi Everyone,
    I've been checking out the thread and using it as encouragement for myself. For the most part, I'm pretty content with where I've been at. I'm a size 12--sexy and curvy I ran a marathon this last fall and I'd like to run another two or three this year. I want to improve my time and I figure one of the best ways to help me out is to drop some weight.

    I could use some input. Right now, I weigh 170lbs. I do pilates for 30 minutes 3-4 days a week, run 45 to 60 min 3 to 4 days and ride my trainer for 45 to 60 minutes 3-4 days a week. I usually carry my daughter hiking or snow-shoeing for 1.5 to 2 hrs once a week as well. Sunday is my rest day. Phew.

    Normally I eat 2400 calories a day. But, as I am trying to lose weight, I've cut it back to 1500-1800: 50% carbs, 25% pro, 25% fat.

    I have lost no weight. In fact, I've gained 1.5 lbs. I also have not lost any inches. My jeans are snug

    Any ideas on how to get things jump started? I'm concerned about cutting my calories any more because when I do that, I don't have the energy to do my workouts. I could use some encouragement.

    Wow, I can't believe the amount of calories you are burning off. Makes me exhausted just thinking about it! First of all, how long has it been since ou cut back on calories? It sometimes takes a couple of weeks for your body to start dropping the weight. Second of all, with all the excercise you do, you need to figure out what your basic caloric needs are, factor in how many calories you burn off and then figure out how much you need to eat. You may not be eating enough actually. Were you gaining weight at 2400? You can track some of this info at Fitday or Sparkpeople or pay for the WW site if that helps.

    limewave- I was looking at some sites where you can calculate the number of calories you need to consume to maintain or lose weight. You can find them if you google it. Anyway the answers vary from site to site but there is some fairly common ranges in there. One thing I read was that you shouldn't consume less than 10 calories per pound of your current weight, which would be mean you shouldn't eat less than 1700. And with all your activity, it should probably be higher than that...
