What do I call it when I scream?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Monday, I started working out with a semi-private trainer, sort of like CrossFit. Yesterday was day 2 and I expected to be sore today.

But in my high up the inner thigh? Maybe it was from the squats lifting a sand-filled ball so I had a wide stance. I need a name for that muscle so my screams are more understandable.

Oy, and I have a huge mtb weekend planned. Saturday is a big epic ride (mostly downhill, thank goodness) followed Sunday when I have to keep up with 3 tandems (fortunately, NOT mostly downhill). Let me say "oy" again.

    Kewl. Thanks!

Look! I even found a picture of someone else screaming. I mean, he must be right? Look at the red pulsing . . .

And now I know how to stretch them (more than I did yesterday).

This too shall pass, Grasshopper. Riding will probably feel good.

I'll never forget the first time I did what I call the "Thousand-Hundreds":

    Row 1000m
    100 pullups (assisted)
    100 situps
    100 pushups
    100 squats (just bodyweight!)
100 Grasshoppers (some Crossfit thing that kills your core)
    Row 1000m

Drying my hair and sitting on the toilet were torture for a few days after that.

    I LOVE IT!!!!

I can never remember if it's the adductor or the abductor, so I just ask my trainer, which muscles do you use on the giant thigh-master machine?

    Thank you thigh-master!!

There's a ton of abductor muscles. You use your adductor muscles to pull your thighs together.

Magically, this morning no lingering pain there. The hamstrings just a bit but entirely loosened up during this morning's workout.

Anyone else considering putting yellow on their "ignore" list?

By the way, the trainer was surprised at the adductor soreness because she said cyclists use those muscles (and she's a spin instructor) to keep their legs aligned straight and close to the top tube. However, once I told her that was my natural position without any effort (unlike the squatty bowlegged stuff you see from a lot of men), she agreed that there would really be no reason to engage those muscles unless I was consciously choosing to actually clamp the top tube.

So, now I don't feel like quite such a weenie.

When someone is abducted, they are taken away.

    Adduction is adding, putting together.

BTW. What are the appropriate decibel and pitch levels for future screaming?

I want to sure they're comprehensible.

I think grunting is more appropriate when doing a squat.
