    Waahhhh!!!!! I'm sick!!! Can't ride! :(

    So, no sooner did I bust out one of my best rides ever, with my fastest speed ever, than I came down with a bad cold that very night. Wahhhh!!!!! And now my cycling buddy went riding without me today and got even more miles ahead of me on our club's stat page on bikejournal.com. We are very competitive about moving our names up the list as high as possible, and we are usually only a mile or two away from each other. She's now over 50 miles ahead after sneaking in a ride on Easter with her husband and now today. Not that I can blame her for riding without me when I'm sick .... but I can still lie here feeling all sorry for myself and go WAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jiffer, are you sure it's a cold
    The reason why.
    since i moved out here, I would a long and hard ride on Saturday. Then I woke for Sunday it felt like some one had shoved a cinder block up my nose this usually lasted til Wednesday.
    I Finally "cured" it by literately drowning myself re-hydrating on Saturday.(we do live in the desert , ya know ), and getting real early start so I'm back in noon ( I think our constant wind had some thing to do with ). I also threw out my bedding and replaced with new. That's part of why I ride my bike to church instead of putting on my "Sunday best"/
    Either way {{{{Jiffer}}}
    ps. get ahead on bikejournal, I thought that was "unpossible" . But then again, I usually check it only once a month.

    We had a heckuva bad tree pollen week last week here in the PNW. I know the change in seasons in So Cal can be subtle, but could you be reacting to something in the air? If you had a big ride the day before, you might have increased your exposure to allergens.

    Hope you feel better soon-

    I'm so happy since I started riding for quality rather than quantity. I'm so much more appreciative of the times that I can ride and more patient with the time when I need to heal.

    Old age. It's a wunderful thang.

    Just wait til some doctor tells you you can't ride for at least 6 months because of a serious health issue. I hope it never happens to you, but it sure gives you some perspective.

    I remember during the whole pulmonary emboli thing I actually had to stop looking at TE because I got depressed because I still had 4 months left before they'd even consider thinking about letting me ride. It got grim. and then when I tried spin classes, I got chest pains. That was a low point.

    Woo hoo!

    Before it does, make some large cash withdrawals and count your money! (Then use it to help pay my taxes.)
