Why I felt like I was blowing snot rockets every minute today on Diablo. My cold has ramped itself up and my poor nose is already sore from the tissues.

Get rid of the tissues... just go to the porch and go for distance and accuracy!

    poor baby

I sympathize. I've been sidelined the last 10 days with a yucky sinus/bronchial infection, right when the weather down here got PERFECT. What a bummer. Anyhoo, after uber-antibiotics I hope I am back out tomorrow afternoon for the fun women's ride. I just hope my legs aren't dead. And I hope you feel better soon! I did a rocket on a slow ride the other day in honor of Spazz, mahself.

I'm going to bed. I feel sorry for my pillow. I hope that decongestant stuff I took when I got home kicks in soon.

Me too Spazz - the first time I ever tried that I was a runner, and I ended up wearing it and having all the boys laugh at me! what a lovely experience! Here's my excuse why I don't do it now - I had an ENT doc tell me blowing your nose is actually very hard on your sinuses, it can inflame them and lead to sinus infections. The best thing you can do is snuff it back up and spit! and Spit I can do!!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

It takes me such effort to hack up that stuff and spit, I can't imagine doing it on the bike.

    Red face Gross but helpful...

    Snot rocket suggestions:

    1. Speed is your friend. They work best when you are riding fast. The rocket will fly away better. (Actually, the rocket goes the same speed; you just have a better chance of getting away from it when you are riding 20 miles per hour rather than 5).

    2. Practice when you are alone. I think a big part of the problem is psychological. We just are programmed not to do this in public.

    3. When group riding, launch them when you are at the end of the pack or at least on the edge. It is uncomfortable for at least two people (you and the other rider) if it lands on one of your riding partners...

    4. Beginner's practice... Try it in the shower. Yes, this is gross, but you really need to know "how" to do it before your public debut!

    5. They really do help! Sniffling and wiping your nose just doesn't cut it. Once you let one fly, you can breathe again!

So, after all the giggles -- how is the invalid? Sounds like a bunch of you are gettting colds. I think I'll stay upwind of everyone.
