Nice one, yes, I can definitely relate to that.

How did I get a tailwind up route 3?
Don't think or I'll jinx it.
People walk in that cemetary.
Someone is crossing route 3 up ahead. Old man, black socks.
People walk on route 3? If he'd come out by the fruit stand instead of the parking area he would have a nicer walk.
Hawk! With a rabbit!
Don't forget to tell Tom you saw a hawk with a rabbit.
Hill.
A B C D E F G... doing the alpahabet makes hills easy.
H I J k l i wish I could get the alpahabet out of my head.
Motorcycles eat less fuel. Two motorcycles. No, three!
I could pick up the bike path earlier.
Glass. On the bike path.
Is Martha going to ride today?
All the people on the bus. And here I am.
After mile 12 only an hour... maybe less because I'm done with hills.
A B C D...
That Spoon song - not Underdog but the other one... oh yeah.
That lady should wear a helmet.
I hate when my bag slides. There.
Billboard! Newman's Own coffee... and McDonald's. Now there's an oxymoron.
McDonald's, Walmart, Target. Greenwash.
UhP POTHOLE *upHP!* Gaddamnit I hope I didn't break something.
Sigh. If I got a flat.
Out here.
Uhgh.
I did get a flat. But T was home. I could call for moral support.
I'd call Janet. She'd come get me.
Or change the flat and call work.
Or walk to like, a bus stop.
Good morning ladies on the bike path!
I like that soap factory. It smells good.
When I take the bike path, I get to see the river. And go fast wheeee!

I can do five more miles.
I have to say, that other than trying to not run into potholes, get chased by dogs or hit by cars, the time that I'm on my bike is for preventing brain activity!
It is the only time that my WORLD CLASS ability to WORRY ceases. And when I say Worry- a therapist once said my habit would place me with a silver medal in the worry olympics. I mean to get rid of all of that on a bike ride. I don't think about anything! If I observe something interesting, I never remember it by the time I get home. Every once in a while I run out of things to worry about, and then my brain manufactures new stuff to worry about. So, the bike ride is like Zen or meditation or something like drugs, but more healthy.
I'm off to do a brick. I'll try to notice what's in my mind and let you know.
It is never too late to be what you might have been. ~ George Elliot

I agree with you BeccaB. I am also a world class worrier and cycling allows my brain to shut off and think of nothing else but when to shift and how hard I can push myself. Gotta love it when you can put all thoughts aside.
+1 on thinking about nothing. The only thinkg going through my brain is the wind going from one ear to the other.
I am a world class worrier too. My brain does all the thinking right before I go to sleep grr. I think my brain takes everything in though, because I have the ability to recall every turn, hill, where it gets cool by the creek, which horses live where, what kind of cows live in this pasture, etc.
How do you all type all that while riding your bike?![]()

You know what's funny? I REMEMBER my ride rambles. I get home and they are playing like a track in my head.
Sometimes, a song I had in my head on the ride will keep playing.
...driving me nuts in the process.
I can do five more miles.
It's the same thing as straining to see an accident as you pass by. I think it's some sort of primal reassurance in the knowledge that that awful thing did not happen to YOU.
Sometimes when I try really hard I manage to not look at the road kill as I pass it, but it ain't easy!I do try to always hold my breath though.

also, trying to not breathe near road kill, because of the bugs it attracts. I've actually eaten a few bugs just from having to breathe. Eeewww!
