    Off to the neurologist!

My appointment is tomorrow at 10:45 am, I have copies of my CT scan (geez, about 20 separate films!), I am prepared!

My friends at work are more freaked out than I am, it's kind of funny. They look at me all hang-dog "How are you feeling today? You doing OK?" I'm bouncing around, all thrilled about actually getting a real diagnosis and treatment after all this time.

I've told them to lighten up, they're depressing me....

It would be SO exciting to finally find out what's wrong. 'Bout time.

If you want to have some fun with your co-workers, you could wait until one of them bumps your chair or something. You could then yelp, put your hand to your neck, and start twitching or something. Though I supposes they're being sincere and to tease them would be Wrong.

Good luck and I'll look forward to reading what neurologist says

    Happy neuro visit!!

It'll be fabulous, you'll talk about big needles, surgery...all sorts of fun things.

It is great that they're dealing with the real issue now. Keep us posted.

Well that was uneventful. I know, it's not realistic to be "fixed" on the first visit, I'm just frustrated. Where's my magic pill dammit!

He seems nice enough, typical rumpled doctor type. He did a bunch of tests, checking my reflexes, reactions etc. Checked my balance. Aside from my neck and arms, I am neurologically sound . He looked at the CT scan films and said "These tell me nothing, why didn't they do an MRI on you?" So next week I get the MRI, and possibly another EMG (oh joy).

Ah, yes. The MRI. I had a grad student who did an observation study in a neurology department a few years back. MRIs were standard diagnostic procedure for just about everything!

BTW, that ROFL-smiley Queen posted? In the context of this thread I thought it was her suggestion for scaring the co-workers -- don't fall on the floor and lie still, fall on the floor and writhe, screaming in "pain". Oh, and then lie still. Woops. Then dial 911 for the co-worker who keels over with a heart attack.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

We had an orthopod in Edmonton like that, all the PTs called him Dr. Gucci.

Snap - they did the CT because they were trying to figure out the status of the C1 vertebra. This Doc wants to know how much impingement there is in the C5 to C7 area, so he needs an MRI because it shows the nerves better.
