Attacked by dog! :-) :-) :-) while riding trainer

I take Robin, my Weimaraner, to the LBS with me most of the time. She knows where they hide the dog treats. My LBS offers floor space to bring in your trainer and bike to workout to Spinerval and Chris Carmichael DVD's on Monday's and Wednesdays after they close.

Well, Robin decided to grab the package of dog treats off the workbench in back and was smart enough to bring them to me on the bike. "Mommy, can I have one?" I hopped off my bike, gave her one, and put them up out of reach. Well, evidently one wasn't good enough. I had a rabid Weimaraner biting my leg and hand trying to convince me she was a mean girl and rip me to shreds if I didn't comply.

Okay... so I gave her one more and then she settled on her doggie bed that I bring with me to the LBS.

Next time, I'll have to get a picture.

And I thought riding indoors was safe!

your story is cute and by the way you worded it I can't tell how hard your dog was biting, but it sounds like you rewarded her for that kind of behavior?
Sounds kind of scary to me.

I'm all too familiar with the "I'm a mean dog, fear me!" Coming from my corgi it just makes me laugh.

Your pup sounds adorable, my older pup use to groom (nibble) my arm or hand when she wanted a treat...she was very fierce.

Too funny! Weimaraners can be hysterically "ferocious" when they want to act tough. Made me laugh, because I can see my golden doing the same thing.

Weimeraners are great. I've known a few and I can just see them trying to play "tough"!

    No fears -
I use to teach competitive obedience (when I had time). Robin has many obedience titles along with therapy work and agility. We use to compete in hunt tests too, but I screwed her training up and now she's gun shy. Side note - we are going to Michigan this Saturday to hunt quail with a bunch of other women with Weimaraners from our Weim google group. Yes - a CHICK's only hunt!

I'm also an AKC Field Trial and Hunt Test judge. Treasurer for the Greater Cincinnati Weimaraner Club, Webmaster, along with doing rescue.

Can you tell my life goes to the dogs?

Robin's an excellent trail dog and likes MTB'ing too.

She just turned nine and she's the love of my life. Healthwise she's not doing all that great so I've been giving her a little "extra" every now and then. I had hoped to get one more obedience title on her before being retired but I'm waiting for Weim Nationals in May to do that so we'll see.

As someone that has had dozens of rescue dogs to my home, I can't believe some of the behaviors people allow their dogs to get away with! I have to rehab and retrain a lot of them!

    Chicks only hunt

Yes, I hope this thing is a blast. Every year around the first of September, everyone starts talking about bird hunting on our Weimaraner googlegroup. Most people on the googlegroup don't use their Weim for hunting and you get a lot of "sounds like fun, wish I could do that" stuff. One of the girls ran with the idea and put together a hunt for women only. There will be certified gun safety instructors there and guns to borrow for those that don't have one.

Most of us only know each other from the internet.

Get this - my roommate for the weekend is coming from Virginia. We started talking via email about life, trying to get to know each other. We are BOTH Biology majors, both (obviously) own and train Weims, in collge use to work in an LBS while I date the manager of mine, and her brother is a Cat 2 racer!!! I am going to have so much fun!

TJeni, you'll have to let us know how the weekend goes. I am so envious! I love Weims and those other short-tailed, versatile Euro breeds. I've had German shorthaired pointers all my life and worked with GSPCA rescue for about 7 years. Still have 2 elderly and beloved livertick lady rescues with us. as well as a discarded former deer beagle I plucked off the road a couple of years ago. Haven't been bird hunting in years...good luck, have loads of fun, and pack a camera!
