eww. Sorry about the gooey thumb. Not fun. I managed to get all my housework done and even play a little in my compost pile (pile of rot, you used to be my only friend~ no more!) now I'm burning incense all over the house to make it smell pretty. Rain right now, blended with a champa. You wouldn't think it'd smell good, but... it's not bad. Thanks for the massage offer, Dar, but I think I might bug DGF for it tonight. It's overdue.
Dad called from WI to tell me about the snow and wish luck on the new job. They start wondering if I died if I don't bug them once a week or so.

well, gotta go shower. I smell like rain, champa, smoke and.. um.. .compost.

Well, I survived my 200k yesterday. Only nine people rode, and one crashed out- he came all the way down here from Indiana! For the firt time, all day, I remember thinking "I am so glad it isn't hot!" I had the world's best piece of fried chicken at mile 80. 6:10 Century, 7.0 IM Bike (112 miles) (gotta know for future reference) 7:58 total riding time, 9.5 hours total time.

Spent the day revising/adding on to the stepping stone walk. Very hard to fit the asymetrical stones in, in another row. BF said it was too narrow and he kept kicking the ornamental grass. So I put in six more stones and made it a tier wider, which you can't actually walk on, and then moved the grass out of harm's way, and planted in a bunch more little plants, like some tiny very low-growing basil and flowers. Then I sat outside with Dill and kept getting up to walk up and down it. The solar lights are just coming on.

I built a hibernaculum for Fagalo. He's been burying himself halfway in the dirt, so I got a big bag of peat, and mounded that over him, then piled pine needles and leaves and dried weeds on top of that. All the activity got his curiosity up, so he came out to climb Fagalo's Mountain, then went back into hiding. Going to be 37F tonight- glad I got it finished.

Choco ate his frozen TV dinner like a good boy. Got another glimpse of Inez. Will try to feed her Wednesday or Thursday. Maizey is getting ready to shed. Addy is still not eating. I am going to rename her Nicole.

My two doves that sleep in my garage tree invited a flock of 30 over for a slumber party. It is taking them quite a long time to settle down.

I also had a cord-cleaning frenzy behind our desks this morning- I can't believe how many things need to be plugged in! I have two cameras, two iPods, a Rio, my Palm- two printers, DSL, router, speakers, hard drive, God knows what is on BF's side. I ripped my old desk top tower out from under my desk and threw it in a corner- I never use it.

Here's a cool pic from my ride- don't see this very often:

ouch X that thumb sounds like it hurts. poor thing. want me to kiss it and make it better?

enjoy your day tomorrow kit. everything will be fine.

dar good luck with the persuading. for the record: kit is really good at persuading people to do things.

i went to church this morning for the first time in 4 years (or about that) my friend is doing the filming of the church services so i decided to go with him. wow was it different. raised lutheran (didn't eat lions) and this is a different christian church. very nice. just had the full band instead of the organ.

got the storage packed up. friends took the furniture and so that's a load off of my mind. i met my first TE girl. lenusik stopped by and i got to meet her. super sweet girl. i love TE. where else could you find such nice people? now all i have to do is go to the post office tomorrow and mail out the boxes. phew! a load off of my mind.

nanci nice picture. that is definaly one sign you don't see often.

Chica, I don't know what you're talking about! Convincing? Trek? Knot? Am I convincing of *anything*?!

Just got a call from dgf, saying she's stuck doing a double, couldn't get out of it, etc etc, so she won't be home until 11. What BS. I was going to make dinner and everything. Crap. thinking about heading to the store for a calling card and some soda to bug my friends and all the people I haven't bugged in awhile... dunno. I was hoping to see her my last night before we started working opposite shifts. Crap.

Actually, there's still 5 pieces left. I've been a very good girl and only had a slice a day, so you're more than welcome to enjoy some. It's nice and juicy! Mmm ... homemade Italian bread.

Nanci - good for you on your ride! It sucks that only 9 riders showed tho. And I would recommend NOT renaming Addy to Nicole. I'm guessing the spotlight of being Nicole might freak her out and she might add binging to her regimen of food (or lack there-of).... if I ever get a snake, I am definately conferring with you. A hibernating-thingy..... who woulda thunk it.....

And X - sorry about your thumb. I'm pretty sure tequila could numb the pain

Nanci! You are amazing! If I'd ridden 200K, I sure wouldn't be rearranging stones and grass and cords and turtle hibernacula! You have amazing energy and creativity. Any pix from the ride?

    X--I must've missed the thumb injury--what happened?

CWR--glad to hear Lensik is a good egg. And a pregnant egg, at that!

I delivered one baby today, am now hanging out just putting in my hours. Beats working. Trying to resist bugging J, who's studying for finals.

    X-what happened to your thumb?

CWR- I am glad you were able to meet up with someone from TE. What fun!

Nanci- you amaze me with your rides. I honestly o not know how you do it. Thank you for sharing the pic of the panther crossing. Are you certain you want to rename Addy to Nicole? Maybe a more inspiring role mode is in order? I cannot wait to see pics of your yard.

Lise- Congrats on welcoming another new life into this world.

I am still missing a lot and I apologize. I think I a just going to head for bed. Have a good night!

How'd you get writing and throwing on the same hand, X? I'm left for writing and right for throwing. At least I used to be right for throwing - can't throw hard since I broke my clavicle (deltoid problem, clavicle is fine).

I'm been in Maryland for the weekend, and staying tonight too - flight home got cancelled. Friends dropped us off at the airport, and had to call them 5 minutes later and ask them to turn around and come get us again.

Nanci - cool sign! Where *were* you riding?? Pretty good times for the 200k I think. I like that you keep track of all the other times too. Good idea. Will keep that in mind if I ever ride 200 k (like hopefully next summer) You are my role model - hope you realize that.

Kits- that really sucks that she won't be home tonight. Guess you'll have to make do with the company of the TD gals. Think you can stay awake till midnight to get the massage? Might be worth it. Good luck tomorrow - hope you love it!

OTG - I am there with ya. Diet-Schmiet. I want some good food for a change.

I went for a looong walk with the dogs today. Wished I had my mt bike once I was part way. Wonder if I can take them up when we ride? I need another 200 km to meet my goal of 3000 km this year. Not sure I am going to be able to do it. Maybe if I went to Florida, I could do it all in one day?

Kelowna- If she's had to do a double today, I'm going to be on the giving end of any massages tonight. She deserves it. No, I'll never get what I want that way but hey, she deserves it. I'm having the best possible alternative- reading in my little corner with sweet liqueurs and etc. It's still one of the best nights I've had recently.
oh. and waiting for *someone* to get her happy butt back to wherever her cell phone is so I can call and we can chat awhile. hope that happens before I have to go to bed. Oh well.
X- I manage to be right for writing and throwing (technically righty) but left for anything that might damage/mangle my hands (left hand over right for holding things being sawed etc) b/c my dad made a strong point when it came to the old mill folks who were missing fingers etc.

Knot and I went to one of the ALC training rides which started at Sports Basement and went into Larkspur. With the sad news about my cousin I wanted to get back on the bike, plus this would kill two birds with one stone (sorry Nanci) bike ride + touristy c*** because we went across the Golden Gate bridge.

I was pretty much ok till the safety speach when a veteran rider said in a joking way something like "oh, we're veterans we don't need to pay attention to that" (I had the ALC wind vest on).

I guess I kinda lost it then and on the ride up and across the bridge I was slow...more so than ususal anyway and everything seemed just too dam* close especially those newbies on their rental bikes.

We crossed GG Bridge and Knot and I decided to just head back, stopped, Knot took pictures which will be posted at some point (can't get my i-photos to download it).

It'll take me a bit but I'll be ready for the ride by June.

Nanci, why do you need the IM time for future reference? Are you going to try an IM sometime??? Yeah, I too would like to know where the 200 km. was. Are you back on the trusty Vitesse for these? I would love to see a pic of your stone path sometime, by the way. So Fagalo is hibernating outside this winter instead of doing the tub inside, then. Sounds like he's ready. And I love the Panther Xing sign.

Lise, what is J. studying in grad school? I'm sure you said at some point, but my search capacity tonight is low.

Am going home to Albany next Saturday the 18th, staying till the 25th, to see Mom. She sounds better every time I talk to her. Scary that so many body blows can happen so fast to her. I wasn't sure I'd ever hear her sound like herself again. She will probably go from the skilled nursing/rehab place to assisted living, not back home, which she knows. T'giving will be me, Mr. Salsa, and Mom at the nursing home's big dinner, and I expect will be kind of hard, since it will be her first T'giving not hosting a bunch of us at home. Any tips you guys might have for making it better/good/different/fun would be gratefully accepted. I also get to have my annual Friday night Thanksgiving leftovers dinner with my best friend, her very cool husband, and even cooler 27-year-old son and ditto fiance.

The Beeper seems to be doing reasonably well.

The house expansion is moving along. The recent rains did a serious test on the new roof and gutters--no leaks. This week, the plumbers are invading and will be all over the place--poor cats. The world of contractors and materials is weird and sort of oligopolistic. It's hard to get prices/costs on things---suppliers and fabricators will only bid to contractors, etc. Everyone gets a mark up. We are slowly picking paint colors. So you knew about the ochre living room with the blue wall. Now we are using the greeny-aqua color of the shutters in that Rousillon picture you saw, for the entry hall. Kitchen has a brick wall on one side, and I think we are going to do Caribbean paint colors in there---two different ocean blues and a lime green. Guest bedroom--blue grey and either sand or terra cotta. Our bedroom--warm white with grey-lavender trim. Bathroom---gold/tan granite, green tiles, maybe green and plum walls. I like color. But my weaving studio will just be offwhite, since I want the weaving and art to be the color in there. Still pondering the outside house color.

For absolutely no reason at all, except that this is TD and I sort of miss weaving, I am posting a picture of a sample I wove in a class a couple of years ago. I haven't woven in months, since everything is being stored in a container in the driveway. Sure hope I still like it when I get a real weaving studio to work in!

Salsa - very cool weave! I'm impressed.

X - glad the tri socks worked out for you . I myself am a

On a side note, I HATE getting masages. I'd much rather get a facial or pedicure...... but thats just me
