OK, so you know what it's like. Yeah, I was at that place this summer, found myself longing after someone who turned out not to be so interested in me afterall...and really, I wanted him because I wanted somebody, more than anything, I think. Took July and most of August off, did my tri, went back online end of August, and got an email from J within two weeks. *He* had just gone back on after taking the summer off...had no reason to be dating, as he was about to move, working full time, taking two classes in grad school. He can't even explain what made him want to reactivate his profile at that time. It just was the right time for us both. The lying thing, it is so disheartening. Best to find it out right from the git-go. It only gets worse with time. You know that, which is why you check them out so well from the start. Sleep tight, Dar. It's a new day tomorrow.

I have yet to see him in a baseball cap, but it's (nearly) winter, and it's Chicago. We'll have to wait a few months. He is from the South, however, so he should know how to wear a hat! He is such a sweet guy. I'm doing a 24 now, ends tomorrow night, followed by 8 hr in the clinic Mon. I invited him for dinner Monday night, and said I'd understand if he couldn't because he has finals on Wed and Thurs. He said, "Darlin', I'll study tonight, tomorrow, and on Tuesday. I want to see you whenever I can. The schedule is what it is." Surest way to a midwife's heart is to be accepting of her schedule. That, and chocolate. Last night he went out in the driving rain to pick up some Thai food. As we sat and watched my favorite U2 DVD (Rattle & Hum), he then disappeared into the kitchen and returned with Dove Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. This stuff must be experienced to be believed. Seriously.

OK, and now, to try to catch some zzzz's. Hoping all the pregnant women are doing the same.

Even though I have been married for longer than some of you guys have been on the ground, I am really enjoying the talk about dating. I got married before there really was computer dating (wah, wah) but I'm not really complaining.

When I got married if I had a normal family structure (mom, dad not divorced, not dysfunctional, etc) I don't think they would have LET me marry my dear Raleighdon. He was unemployed, spent time in Juvenile Detention, he smoked, uh, I could go on and on but I won't.

The whole thing about PICKING is so odd because some people do everything right, marry into good families, wait more than 3 months from first date until wedding. space their children, etc, etc. and still end up in divorce and unhappiness.

If I knew me then I would tell me not to marry that guy, are you crazy? But for totally misguided reasons, I did marry him and uh.. we're still married, we have two great sons, 3 cats and a large number of bicycles. We help each other in many ways, and we STILL like each other. okay, i will stop with the monologue!

Wow have I missed a lot and feel rather lost. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!

Lise-J sounds like a wonderful man. Thai and Dove mint ice cream. I am so very glad you are happy.

CWR-I am glad the massage was wonderful.

Dar-the time you spent with your little guy sounded like so much fun. I love making snow angels.

Kit-in my much, much younger college days I could drink ouzo.

Mimi-I too married before computers were in homes. We met, were engaged 3 months later, and have a wonderful family. I cannot even imagine not being with him.

Knot-Glad you arrived safely and hope you are having a splendid time

Trek- Give you give Knot a hug from me?

Trek and Knot- Have a wonderful ride.

Don't feel too lost. This is a hard conversation to keep up with. sometimes it reminds me of a party with a loud band. You can kind of keep up with some of the conversations, but you miss some stuff and get confused. you step outside to get some air, and when you come in someone (X) has done something and no one will tell you what it was (she had the post deleted!)

I think Knot had a good idea to leave this neighborhood THIS weekend. We are having the kind of rainstorms I remember from my childhood in NJ. COLD, WINDY, very very wet.
BIke? I don't even want to look at it.

    Mimi,
A very clever way to describe it, and quite accurate. It is chilly here, which I am grateful for. I prefer running when it is in the low 40s, upper 30s. My stomach has been upset for the past few days so today I am laying low and will see about a run this evening.

We woke up this morning to beautiful blue sky and sunshine! Mimi, enjoy that Seattle weather for me... ha ha ha! Maybe I can bring some San Francisco sunshine back up I-5 with me tomorrow!

The bikes are almost ready for the ride this morning. I did remember to bring my camera, so I'll take as many pictures as I can. I've never been to the Golden Gate bridge (never been to SF before) so this will be pretty cool.

I had a friend in high school (who grew up to be a professional mtn biker for the Cadillac Catera team) named "Golden" because she was born in the back of a taxi in the middle of a traffic jam on the Golden Gate Bridge.

OTG - Wrong girl for the massage. That was CWR. As I understand, it was very good tho. (If I say anymore, Kit has been employed to cut off my thumbs. I really think she'd do it, too. )
Although if someone's offering, I'm game! I love giving and getting them. It's surprisingly easy to end up giving an hour massage and not even notice the time passing. Just turn on some soft music and get lost in the ebb and flow of the melody, the rhythmic cadence, cresting chord progressions and arpeggios, the tension and release of the pitch, deep penetrating harmonic waves resonating off the finger tips and through the timbre of the flesh. *Ahem.* Phew, is it hot in here? **wipes the steam off the screen**

and THAT'S what ya get for the evil grin, woman! Next! (oh, I know I'm gonna get it for that one. hehe.)

Knot and Trek - Happy to see ya made it safely Knot. Glad it's going well. Thai food huh? Gotta be careful what you ask for, that can be a pretty hot dinner there. Red hot chili peppers have a kick. (great band too, BTW) Had a bottle-worth dropped in my lap one time. Rather, um, harsh. Not conducive to riding and other such things.
Have a nice ride tomorrow. (like the segway?) Take pics of the bridge and bay too, would ya please? I've never been there before. I'd like to see it from your perspective. Still looking for a biking vacation spot in the spring. (yea!)

Kit and CWR - I think we've said about all we can today. Unless you've got more? j/k!! I'm always here if you need anything, little sisters. Just say the word. ((((((Kit & CWR))))))
Never an end to the chatter and banter! Never! Sorry, b-52s sound really awful this morning. I havent' managed a hangover like this yet. All kinds of fun **** greeting me this morning. Deleted my previous and generally offensive post from earlier, but I'm just here to say yeah, hon, all I need is the word and your thumbs are gone. At least one. Sorry. all that massage talk has me wanting one, but I'm not likely to get one anytime soon. havent had one in about a year and a half now. *sigh* any volunteers?

dar it will get better. i've had good advice that says it will. what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. right?

knot and trek enjoy that thai. i like it hot.

lise glad things are going good with J still.

kit didja remember what you were going to say yet?

hugs to all, and to all a good night.
I *did* remember what I was going to say. Then I remembered what I *said* and deleted it! What doesn't kill you does make you stronger. Maybe in another way, but it will.
Hot thai is good when it's a curry etc, but bad when it's phad-thai. just because Phad-thai can be so complexly flavored with those little crumbled dried shrimp, honey and peanut butter, a little lime, some thai basil... it needs just enough spice to tingle the tongue but not too much or you lose the subtleties. Really! ok, I'm just really picky about my phad-thai because I think I make the best.

**Officer X saunters in**~~ Ok, ok, break it up, give 'em some room, nothing here to see so move along folks. Y'all are soooo paranoid! **whispering to Kit** pssst. pssst. Quit pulling this back out, will ya? (I love the word "saunter" and have always wanted to use it. I feel better now.)

I'm at work, covering for a few hours. Just got quiet. Ssssshhhh....

Kit - Can I pick which one I lose if I stupidly go "there"? I believe I'll take the right. I'm right handed for writing, throwing... but lefty for pretty much everything else. So, it can go either way. But, since my bike computer is on the left, I'll have to lose the right. Priorities, ladies, priorities.
Hey, Kit, I have a confession... *ducking slightly* I don't like ouzo. (well, not much) So do I lose another thumb for that or what? Can I trade it out for a pinkie maybe? I would pick a toe but I just love my cute little toes. (NO, I don't have a foot fetish, I just think they're really cute, that's all. Quit looking at me like that.)

CWR - I'd really like to comment, but Kit's watching and you know how she gets. (Truth is, I have really cute thumbs too and I'd like to keep them.)

Oh, it's noon and I've just been parolled. I'll check back later as it's raining here today so no bike ride.

No digit loss for not liking ouzo. It's hard to drink straight and I only really like it in coke... and it's cheaper than jaeger. And I'll be nice an' take your left thumb. Right you need to write. Unless you're a lefty. Gosh, I wouldn't have said anything about foot fetishes...

TD's been surprisingly quiet today. and me? just bumming around the house cleaning stuff, fixing stuff, taking gar-bage out, etc. yay, yay. Hoping Knot and Trek survive the weekend. oh, and stressing about work tomorrow.
(don'tbeatotalboobdon'tbeatotalboobdon'tbeatotalboobdon'tbeatotalboob) Ah! I feel better. For that matter, though, I hope everyone survives the weekend...so quiet...

Uh, not so good. After I iced it up, it looked kinda gooey. I cleaned and wrapped it in a dry bandage last night and then a special burn bandage from the ER today but it's sticking now. I need to change it back to dry soon but I'm afraid to cuz it's gonna hurt. Oh, the price I pay for doing a good deed. I'd do it again if that's what it took tho, dear.
I've got a few, um, scorches other places too, but that's a story for certain other people who shall remain nameless. (Nothing dirty, just stupid.)

margo - Sashay? I NEVER sashay. I do glide however...

It is rather quiet today, isn't it? I just popped in for a minute between things and people myself. It rained on and off all day, so now I have to answer my phone cuz they know I'm not riding. Drama, drama everywhere today.
Having yet another b-day dinner tonight. It's just a conspiracy to make me gain weight and I won't have it I tell you, I won't have it! Ok, maybe just one more piece of cake, but that's it!
You want to know what really makes you feel old? Being reminded over and over again how old you really are! I'm soooo glad this is the last one. I can't take any more eating out. I prefer home cooked meals anyday.
And by the way, OTG, I didn't get any darn meatloaf and by now it's surely all gone. I made bread and everything. (A very tasty italian loaf.) Mmmmm. You don't share, I don't share.

Gotta zoom. I have some very important people to take care of before I go and this is my first chance to do it. See y'all later tonight maybe.

X - the bread sounds heavenly. How's your friend doing in the hospital? I know you'll take good care of her.

Kit - aw hon, I'd give you a massage. 'specially since you took X's thumbs and all. And I shoveled for you too. We're supposed to get another couple of inches of snow tonight and dumped on Wednesday. WAHOOOOO! (remind me of that when my back is killing me from shoveling, ok?).

Not much going on at the homestead. Went to church this morning. Cleaning up around the house, laundry and playing outside again. I SO wish I could take several days off and go through everything here, tossing stuff, organizing, etc. I feel out of control when my house is a mess. I need a good task master here though - I'm very good at getting distracted (kind of like naked twister, but that's another story ).

Kelown, you said it. I think it's so hard computer dating because we get to pick. Which kind of makes you picky, kwim? Kudos to you on following your heart.

Lise, ice cream and chocolate? **kicks at imaginary rock** it's just not fair. But I'm so happy for you I'm trying to persuade a cute dad with a 4 yo daughter to take a chance and email me. We've been checking each other out off and all most of the year but I can't get him to email me. I find most of the guys my age tend to have pre teens or teens, so it's hard to "click" when I've got a 4 yo. But I've got my positive attitude back thanks to you awesome ladies! What would I do without ya?
    Dar
