    Hey Running Mommy,
Doing a TE RAAM thing sounds great! Sign me up for something, even if it's support person. I've not ridden farther than 70 miles yet, so I'd need a bit more training for the riding bit.

If you ride RAAM, and still want me, I'm driving - or whatever else you need me to do.

I happened to catch the live feed yesterday just as they were going through my old town(s) and over La Veta pass. I coudn't take my eyes off it. What a rush, especially if you know the road.

I am now ADDICTED to the live feed!!! I need to be on the treadmill right now and I can't pull myself away! The current rider has quite tight asz- sets...
Some of the cars are freaking me out tho. I keep screaming at the computer "hey, don't HIT him"!! One car was swerving to the right!!
I felt like Susan there for a minute...

The live feed is even more impressive when you know the road. The camera straightens/flattens the route quite some little bit.

Love that live feed. I wish all "my" riders had it.

And yeah, RAAM '08. That has a ring to it. From what I understand, a team is vastly preferable to a solo effort. (Nanci, we're looking at YOU. )

    OK you gals,

You have got me hooked on RAAM. I want to be part of Team TE's support crew! The hardest part would be only being allowed to drive 20 mph. That's what cruise control is for, right?

any chance you might want to do Answer to the Challenge in 2007? It's April. I'm seriously considering it. I want to get set up with a triple though. do that mining century in early spring....

It's unbelievable what the riders are going through - even more so this year than last. We live about four miles from the RAAM route between Mt. Vernon and El Dorado and last night we had a major severe storm come through with at least 60 mph winds at our house (based on news reports and the large tree limbs down all over the place today). At an intersection about two miles from the RAAM route, there were confirmed 80 mph winds with the same storm. I doubt any of the riders were out riding in anything quite that bad or it would be all over the news - it would've been a crosswind for them, in the dark, and big tree limbs and power lines were going down.--

Haven't heard of anyone getting hurt in the storm. That's a real blessing.

    RAAM thoughts

This year, I sat glued to the computer. I was supporting Boyer and his crew... as they competed in the Enduro division. His crew chief, Kerry Ryan, was the one who helped me with training, logistics and equipment last year.
It was amazing to see how Kerry managed to get Boyer to victory with a 3 person crew. My neckbrace came handy again, as this time it was Fedexed to Boyer in Missouri.
The year after RAAM is really hard. Body, mind, soul takes time to recover. I have tried racing a few double centuries. Despite winning, my heart is not in it... so I have decided to let the racing bee, until I feel the edge and the heart has returned to racing mood. There is a time and a season for everything...
But staying in close contact with Kerry this year... seeing his excellence in crewing...Kerry told me 'You can set the enduro course record Cat'. .... and I answered 'Yes, but I can't do it unless you are my crewchief'. .... so even though I vowed this last year that RAAM was a one time adventure,... maybe there will be another RAAM adventure in the future.
Girls... I think you should get a team together and do it... it is such a fun event.
    Cat.
Let us race with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith... (Hebr 12:1-2)
