Now I'm inspired to get my tree up. Was going to Thanksgiving weekend, but one of my dogs ended her battle with Cushings Disease. So I was bummed. I did get her buried in the back yard under the gazebo where she used to love to sit and watch the doves that nested in the climbing rose.

Then this past weekend I had a migraine. No biking (OK I've been really bad on that part), and no going to the gym to lift weights. Just lounge in bed and wait for the medicine to work. At least my kitties were happy to help me rest.

So maybe tonight I'll actually get the tree up. If I can get the thought of last year's opening my box of ornaments to discover ALL the roaches in the neighborhood had used the box as their personal high water shelter after Katrina. Icky icky icky. I know they're now safely out of creepy crawly way because I bought a Plastic box with a tight lid and sprinkled borax on the top for good measure. But the memories, the nasty memories.

oh i'm so sorry about your doggie..... and what a horrible time of year for it to happen (yes... ANY time to have it happen is horrible.... but having a bad event associated with a holiday... especially thanksgiving... it's somehow exonenitally (spelling) overwhelming and hurtful... ) i had no desire or ambition to put up our tree last year because we dealt with a very sudden illness and death of our beloved dog last year.... lost him the day after thanksgiving... that day will always be tainted for me now....

I typically don't put up a tree given I always travel so that I can be with my parents and one of my siblings and their family. Some years I decorate the cat tree (a real tree which has perches at the end of the branches for my buddies). However, this year I decided that was not a good idea with my two 8 month old kittens (Penelope and Twister). So this year I'll enjoy my younger brother's tree along with my parents and his family. All the pictures that have been shared are beautiful!

Yes, that's the Xtracycle - there were three of them in our group. The other two had kids on them, and the kids had wrapped Christmas Tree lights around their bodies - wish I'd thought of that!

I couldn't fix the picture size 'cause it's not my picture; https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/csmyth/www/ccbpl has even more pictures but they are big. (Normally I fix their size with the software that came with the camera.)

Howard rode almost 39 miles today... I'll only get in 15... hmmm... maybe I've got time for a lap around campus or three...

(found in morning un posted )

Went out in that hour's window before class and screamed off 5 laps around campus for 7 miles and worked up a veritable lather. (Started thinking: 10K = 6.2 miles; first indoor time trial is 12/17; TRAINING!!)

Alas, I'm not sure I'll get in any; more than the 15 today, though. It's the fifth already, though... 26 days to go and I've still got 147 miles on the guy

I'll be putting up my tree this coming weekend. Can't Wait - I don't really care about the ornaments but I just adore Christmas Lights! I use an old christmas table cloth for my tree skirt - it works great and it was a great deal on an after christmas sale. Sorry no pictures till I get a digital camera - hopefully, it will be under the tree this year!

BMCCASLAND: I'm so sorry about your doggie A couple of years ago, on Christmas Eve day, I woke up to find that my Little Kitty had a heart attack and died in the garage on his way back inside the house. It was very sad. I still have a hard time putting up the tree sometimes cause he just used to love to camp out under the christmas tree and sleep. He loved the smell of pine and he used to smell like pine all the time cause we live in the mountains. I even have a picture of him under the christmas tree the year he died. Little Kitty got buried in the back yard where he used to like to chase the birds!

Still don't have the tree up at home, but here's my office trees. Little green one has been around for years, and the shiny silver one is new this year---I found it at Target for $2.50, how could I resist!

I'm so jealous of all of you. We made the huge mistake of deciding to have some remodeling done and of course it's taking MUCH longer than anticipated. Maybe by the middle of next week it will be done. Then I can haul out the decorations and put up a tree - if there are any left to be had! Note to self: never begin a big project after Halloween expecting it to be done by Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas

I'm getting in the spirit vicariously, so thanks to all who have put up pictures of your lovely trees .

Brandi - love the bird and cat ornaments. Very different and so cool. Where did you get them?

We put up our tree on the weekend. Several fire nogs later, we thought it looked rather nice!

It's nice getting the house all decorated; gets us in the mood so it's not all shop shop shop.

We ordered a fresh turkey for the first time, too. I'm looking forward to not dealing with frozen and doing it wrong *again*

    Merry Happy to everyone!

    Namaste,

Thank you ! I believe the heron (bird) Is made by a company called old world ornaments. And the cat I believe is a dept 56 ornament. It is a certain line of theirs. Or it is halmark but I don't think so. You see this line in all the gift shops. It is a lot of animals dressed up in strange costumes.
