I like those little round mat things that you guys have your trees sitting on. I've never seen those before.....are they the norm? They add a nice touch

It's called a tree skirt. Hides the stand and makes a nice backdrop for all the gifts!

I use christmas fabric that I got at a fabric store about two yards of it. It is nice and big. The little skirts are almost to little sometimes. And I think they cost to much as well.

I use a hunk of Christmas fabric that I got wrapped around a present one year. (fabric instead of wrapping paper) I haven't finished it off or sewn it into a skirt shape, I just swirl it around the tree stand.

aack, I haven't even taken the menorah out of the box.

I also put lights up. Where'd I put them, do they still work?

I do enjoy putting a Chanukah (or Hanukah whichever spelling you prefer) bush up but did not do that last year.

I've had a red felt cheap one for a few years and always meant to jazz it up. Last year I even bought lots of "stuff" from the craft store to do it but neglected to do so. Sooooo yesterday and most of last night I spent cutting out little felt trees and snowmen to adorn my crumby red felt tree skirt, gawd is it awful looking! I did manage to sew on some gilded rick-rack around the bottom. I am so not creative, it's a shame. I am going to finish this for sure, well OK, not finish it, I decided it's such a pain it will be a work in progress, to be continued next year, and next and so on.....then I'll probably break down and buy an expensive one and get a real live big tree too!

In my minds eye I am such a great artist.......

I think I figured a way to take and post a pic with my cell phone I will try to get one posted soon. I love seeing everyone elses and now that I've told you what a crumby job I did on my "skirt" well I must show ya!

I do NOT have my tree up ... okay, I don't do one. I do try to, um, clean up the house and get my ten Christmas thingies out (the Hummel's I inherited and a pillow and stuff...) but (in solidarity with anybody else who's not a decorating whiz ) trees... my dishes will be done, okay
I *did* decorate my bicycle for hte parade. It's got a tree and lights I'm in this picture:

Here's a close up of my tree skirt. It's beautiful. It's made of dark green and red velvet and has lots of hand embroidered ornaments on it. You can't tell in the photo but when the lights are on, the ornaments just sparkle, reflecting the hand made ornaments I have on my tree.

I bought the skirt about 10 years ago at Costco for gosh sakes. They tend to have the most awesome Christmas stuff - gift boxes, glass ornaments, home decorations - however they usually come out in the Summer so you have to keep your eyes open!

Everyones' trees look great! Even though I am divorced and have no family here I put up a tree. It puts me in the mood and I love ooking at it. It takes me 3 days to put it up but it's worth it. It's never really done as I keep moving things around.

Cali love your tree. Yes I wish I had taken photos of Pip's "kills" I was just so astonished and amused about the whole thing I forgot. He keeps eyeing the big birds on the tree and yes I suspect he does have a ladder stashed someplace! Some day when I'm not watching....

PS Here's a photo of my goofball caught up in Christmas last year!

bcipam, because I've been told that I took to the secular aspects of Christmas like a duck to water but I have a question for you and the group.

If you have a tree skirt, and there are bike shorts under the tree....is it a tree skort?

Everyone's trees are sooo pretty. I hope mine is when I get it up. I haven't had my big one up in a couple of yrs b/c my in-laws lived w/ us and no room in the living rm to put it. It's going up sometime this week(I hope) and get my village houses on display. Happy decorating everyone.
