Holy you know what, did you notice the price for these things!

They look very portable though, and lightweight. Maybe the price will come down after a while.

I thought the same thing - what a neat bike lock - then saw the price. But if you're protecting an expensive set of wheels, then I guess it's all relative. I do hope the price will become a little more budget-friendly, though.

I remember when someone first posted about that lock when they were still looking for backers. I thought it was a very elegant solution!

It's really too bad that it's 24" long. I don't think that would work on my top tube like they recommend (for storage). That's significantly longer than my TT!

It's a really nifty concept, but the price! However, if you've got who-knows-how-much sunk into the bike to begin with...

GLC: Yeah, I'm taller than you, if I remember correctly, I have a bike that's too long, and it's STILL longer than my top tube!

ETA: Okay, it's not quite as bad as I thought. The "bow" is 23", the locking mechanism adds another inch, but looking at the video it's carried separately. Of course, given my top tube is about 21"...

Yeah, and mine is only about 19"! 20" if you include the depth of the head tube, I guess. I can't imagine having 3 - 4 inches of lock sticking out under my seat. It would make my wedge bad unusable. I wonder if it could stick out a little in front perhaps? I think I need to go watch the video again.

Honestly though, I think this lock is a VERY good idea. Yes, it's expensive, but $200 is nothing compared to the cost of my bike (plus the sentimental value I put on it...never mind the fact that it cannot be replaced!).

Editing to add: I bet I could put it on my down tube, which is longer, or I could let it stick out in the front a little. If we ever move back to an urban area, I'm getting one of these things!

I like the concept. Have to admit that my first thought was if it would scratch the paint. If you get it, let us know.

I'm not sure the price will come down much since it is titanium, but the narrower option is $165. A really good U-Bolt will set you back about that much... same with the Kryptonite chains. I'm all about the weight though! The 0.75" wide on is 16 oz! And I can carry it easily on my big trip this summer. When I get mine I will post pictures and a review

I'll be really interested to hear what you think of it.
