That video is HILARIOUS! We have a golden retriever and it's the same thing. I take him outside and brush him and his hair litters our yard like snow. It naturally comes out in puffs/clumps. We call them Jimbo puffs.
I love my animals- I hate their shedding. At least when I shed (skin, etc) I don't have to see it everywhere- if I did I'd probably be oooged out.
I gave up trying to "roller" the hair off my clothes years ago...

One of my best friend has a husky (until recently, had two) whose coat does that, too. Sometimes, a vigorous petting can result in a handful of white tufty "husky feathers." His side yard gets covered with them when it's brushing time. We often joke that I should gather them up and felt them into little mini-huskies.

that's hilarious! I would not be able to breathe (I'm allergic to dogs- even my own), but that's great! Put that waste to good use- it's a renewable resource!

Um.. the slacks - get them hemmed

Excess fur to clothe a puppy or two or three. Nala (Aussie Shephard) used to put out enough fur I swear we could have knit sweaters for needy short haired puppies. But we lived in hot country, so just as she was starting to blow her coat, it was also time to have her first summer shave.

my cat sheds like crazy, so one day my boyfriend said I should tie a fly with his fur. I did, and lo and behold, the fish took it!

By the way, catch and release is extremely stressful on fish - especially in areas that are heavily fished. Takes a fish 24 hrs to recover from being caught just once, and if they get caught again, then the stress hormones keep rising until they die. The lovely things one learns when working for a fish physiologist.
Also learned that trout are stupid, especially hatchery raised ones. I could chum in rainbows just by pretending I was throwing feed over a pond. Or by tossing some pebbles

My shepherd mix is blowing her coat now also. I swear I sweep up a small dog worth of fur EVERY DAY (It can kill a vacuum cleaner, so I sweep first then run the bugger), and that's WITH me brushing her outside!

I love my dogs, but the shedding drives me crazy. I love a clean house, but it's not possible with dogs. Shedding and dust... oy.

I think it's just fish (or any animal, really) that's used to being fed by humans. My sister's various bettas started heading for the surface of their tank if someone so much as turned the light on in that corner of the room.

We have neighbors with several huskies and malamutes--they train them as sled dogs. You can always tell when they've taken them for walks on the nearby rail-trail...it is littered with gobs of hair! We have a long-haired cat who sheds like that, but he's much smaller than a dog, so it's still a more manageable quantity of hair poofs.

I feel your pain. I have two Collies; when they are blowing coat, it's amazing how much they can shed and still have plenty of fur left... And they always seem to know when I'm wearing new slacks. We should own stock in lint rollers.
