waffle weave towel
still on the loom because it is warped for 4 or 5 kitchen towels, but here are some pictures of it in progress.
At this point since it is still under tension it doesn't look very waffely but when I have finished the whole warp, cut the towels off the loom, washed and finished the edges, hopefully the waffle weave( small indented squares) and the plain weave (flat cloth like sections) will look distinctly different and equally good. There is some shrinkage that has to happen which can't happen until the pressure is released, the towels are "fulled" ( washed and shrunk) and finished ( hemmed and tidied up.)

I do mostly traditional Navajo weaving on a traditional frame loom, but one of the groups I belong to insists on doing a study project each year, and those don't always fit on a tapestry type loom.
