I'm old fashioned and am not into Facebook or social networking. Therefore, I admit to being ignorant of the advantages.

It's a different way of displaying the profile, and it keeps a tally of who's been peeking at you (and their name). I guess you can leave notes on someone's profile, too. Like a public PM?

Not quite sure what the "friends" thing is or the purpose it serves. I'm sure someone who does Facebook or Myspace or something will come along and explain it all.
