I didn't have that when I was in the hosp, but I had the next best thing:

Nice nurse: "How are you feeling, dear?"

me: "Oh, a bit achey, but not too bad."

Nice nurse: "Oh, well gee, it's time for your morphine!"

Me: "Um, thanks!"

Oh, and come to find out I actually did have the little push button thingy the first couple of days I was in the hospital, but I was too freakin' out of it to use it on myself.

Hence the nice nurses came by and pushed it for me.
