New Chloe pix - she went to see "Santa" yesterday. It was a fundraiser for our local shelter.

This is Sweetpea in her muscle shirt! She came to me via a pitbull rescue in Eugene, OR.

    What a cutie.

Are pit bulls ears normally docked and hers aren't, or did she just get extra acreage?

I think in general there's a move away from docking dog's ears. Maybe more so with pit pulls so they don't look like fighting dogs, as those poor dogs do get their ears butchered off ("docked" would be surgical, by a licensed Vet). Seems like European kennel clubs aren't allowing docked ears if you want to show your dog.

Those big ears are the better to hear you with!

she's not 100% pit..there's boston terrier or maybe french bulldog in there, too. God knows what else. She's fairly small and very wiggly. Yes her ears are super-sized!

Margo, she's beautiful! Wiggly is a good description, I bet. Kindof Piggly Wiggly (a grocery store chain of days gone by down here).

I considered a rescue Pit bull mix because there are so many around here (Michael Vick's included). But my homeowners insurance would have gone up alot, and so I went with a less-maligned model. Most of the pits I see have floppy ears.

I have a newfound appreciation for dogs with wild ears.

    Hi Tulip,

Yes, wild ears are the best! As are rescues! I volunteer at an animal sanctuary here (horses, dogs, and...poultry!), and the woman who runs it spent a lot of time with Michael Vick's dogs at Best Friends in Utah (where a lot of them were sent to spend the rest of their doggie days). Wow what a sad, sad story. In Denver where my family lives thousands and thousands of pitbulls were euthanized as a result of the pitbull ban passed within the city limits a couple of years back. It is a tough issue to make sense of when you love them and see how they are too often treated.

I am not trying to get into a debate about whether all pitbulls are 100% safe--that is a complex issue--but so many are yet are treated like lethal weapons.

Rant over. I love my sweetpea.

Sweetpea looks like a Frenchie to me and definitely looks fitting of the name.

One of my schnauzers has floppy woppy ears, they are so expressive it cracks us up. The one we got when the breeder retired her has cropped ears, I would never willingly crop ears. My friend told me she hated doing it as a vet tech and her graphic description of it was enough to keep me from wanting them on my puppies.

My parents have the biggest love bug of a rottweiler, seriously she is the biggest wimp yet their HOA didn't want her in the neighborhood. I hate the breed labeling but it is what it is.

Looks more like French Bulldog mixed in than Boston (shape of ears and the fact that she's solid white), but whatever she is, she's beautiful!

I need to get a scanner so I can post pictures of my gorgeous Goldens!

Sweetpea has some magnificent ears! Chloe's ears are also fantabulous -- love that smile.

Here's my polydactyl (6-toed) cat Petey. I rescued him when he was a little kitty from a ditch while on a bicycle ride. He grew up!
