saddle fashion

I know this is the least of my concerns in finding a good fitting saddle, but I must ask a couple fashion related questions to the helpful TE clan. I've received mixed ops from the real life world.

1) White saddles... do they really trash easily? I just looked at a gross thread on non-black bike shorts, and well... it makes me think about saddles not being black. My bike is white, brushed silver, and black. I think white would look very nice on her. But, I don't want it to be gross and regretful in no time...

2) Brooks type saddle or Selle An-atomical... on a road bike question... One very fashion conscious roadie pal of mine said this type of saddle would look stupid on my bike. He said that Brooks are for vintage style bikes... not modern bikes. Especially not a road bike, vs a touring or comfort bike. He's trying to tell me that peeps would lol at myself and the bike.

I just learned that my sitz bones are much too wide for my current saddle. When you need something wider, the options limit. I'm thinking a white leather water shed Selle An-atomical with black rivets would still look good?

I need some bike fashion opinions. And yes, if it fits, looks don't overule... BUT, if there's a choice, what to do...

One of my riding buddies was having awful saddle problems all last year. He'd have to go two or three days between rides. He had a Brooks that felt great, but he refused to put it on his hi-tech road bikes.

This year he's riding more. With the same model Brooks on every one of his bikes.

I can't see a white saddle, though. But I use a lot of lube. I guess if you don't use lube AND you're the other side of menopause, maybe a white saddle would stay clean. And you never ride in the rain. Maybe.

I think white would look lovely. Have you looked at this saddle:

I believe it is 160 mm wide.

Fizik Vitesse is 155mm, but the white version has some pink on it...

The new Bontrager saddle comes in widths and white. I looked at a few the other day at LBS (the men's racing saddle, I forget what it's called), and I think it looks pretty comfortable (surprisingly, since I'm not usually a huge fan of Bonty saddles)...

Your roadie friend is out of the loop if he thinks Brooks don't look good on road bikes! Obviously he has limited taste.

After seeing the gross thread with men in colored shorts on the board, it made me think about the womanly time of the month and white. That is a good point about your roadie pal converted back to the Brooks. It makes a person wonder how did saddles get away from the tried and true? Thx.

Zen... you made me lol. Thx for that. A diff roadie pal, that of is a very good rider, but doesn't want to be consider as "a rider" he told me once, has a Brooks on his old road bike. He's a very humble man, unlike my Mr. Fashion beautiful friend. The humble roadie pal's bike is some type of vintage Shwinn, like 20+-30yrs? old road bike. It's beautiful. He has an all carbon Cannondale, but rides his old bike the most I think. One of the first things I noticed was the saddle... a very well worn Brooks.

I'll tell you what my mother told me when i was 14. You don't fit in? Start your own fad. (it didn't work for me)

HOWEVER, I Know lots of roadies with Brooks saddles. You don't want to spend all your time thinking about your saddle? You want to forget that it's there? Chances are you can do that with a Brooks.
