My understanding from a friend who's been in recovery a long time is ultimately many alchoholics lives end from malnutrition. It's empty calories after all and the addict drinks, feels full, doesn't eat. Silvers, I'm sorry this is happening, I know others here have said this more articulately than me: Alanon is an amazing fellowship of friends and family. Sometimes that's all you can do, change yourself and maybe the addict will follow.
