Those are the things left in the bottom of the holiday candy bowl after all the chocolate has been eaten. Usually dumped in the garbage around here.

I can do without the circus peanuts and cadbury eggs. But I would have to agree with chocolate being on the top of the list. I usually don't endulge in to many sweets, I am not a cookie fan or a cake fan so that leaves chocolate to be my weakness.

Cadbury eggs for the win! Hey, come on, I have had many a rellie working for Cadbury's over the years, as me mum's side of the family are Brummies.

Not a Peeps eater. Mr. East Hill sneaks in some candy corn every once in a while, and I'll have a nibble.

Here's another interesting link to stir the pot on Circus Peanuts:

Peeps. They have to be stale (learned that from mom!) I have two very well aged ones (a blue and a purple chick) that sit on a shelf in my office right next to a card that a former co-worker gave me depicting a "Marshmallow Chick-aholic Anonymous" meeting. Several years ago said co-worker and I tried to get the Peeps to joust in the office microwave. The powers that be were not amused.

Been a long time been a long time been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely time
since I've tasted any of these delicacies, but strangely enough this thread has given me the desire to do just that.

I won't even have to spend my own money on the Circus Peanuts, my mom always has some!

I will pass on the kraut juice, though.

    Agreed.
But I'd put them in a slightly different order:
    Candy Corn: Ick
    Circus Peanuts: Ick, Ick
    Peeps: Ick, Ick, Ick.

Candy corn have passed my lips on exceedingly rare occasions, but none of the others. I'd have to be alone on a deserted island first with nothing else to eat.

I have a friend who would only eat peeps when they were left out and stale. Then, they "changed the formula" and NEVER got stale!!! They never hardened up or did whatever made them palatable to her. Just that thought alone made them evem MORE frightening to me to consider as a food item.

Regina, I don't know what peeps your friend is getting, but my peeps still get stale very nicely in about a week of sitting on top of the refrigerator!

no icks here; WE like all that junk. our strategy is to not buy it often so it doesn't become one of the major food groups!!

Guilty pleasure -I like to toast my peeps 'til the sugar forms a crispy carmelly crust (like sugar top of creme brulee) and the marshmallow becomes a viscous goo. Dunno but I like it better than regular toasted marshmallows. I have to be very careful not to catch the things on fire or they taste burnt. Uck! It takes a bit of time to get right and usually the first one gets sacrificed because I get too close to the burner. Oh boy! Now my secrets out.

I think this thread is a total kick! I am clearly a philistine because I don't like Cadbury eggs. Also, Mimi, I used to hate circus peanuts but in recent years have to come really like them. This amuses Chris no end, since he is convinced there is no organic material in circus peanuts. Oh WELL. Whatever. Pass me that 7-peanut bag, please.

    sgtiger, great Peeps innovation!

I think you creme egg haters just aren't eating them right - bite the top off, scoop out the goo with your finger then eat the thick, chocolatey shell. And don't be afraid to make a mess.

So... guess what song I have had stuck in my head since I read your post, Zen!

Pass on the cadbury eggs. I like the ones filled with caramel or even better is the chocolate truffle. Dove eggs are so good.
