    Smile Coming Back...

I've had a bit of a rough summer biking wise. The endo, the fall down the cliff, feeling crummy at altitude...

But yesterday I had a great mountain bike ride. I climbed a section we call The Wall. It goes up 500 feet in .7 miles. That's over 11% overall, but there is one short flat section in there. It's one of those climbs that I'm never sure I'll be able to do entirely and I just take one little section at a time. Some days I come off at the sandy steep 12% section or after a loose switchback that is over 20%, or in the ruts that are at 15%. But yesterday I felt great! What really made the ride so awesome was how much better I felt on the descent than when I rode it earlier in the week.

Today we did a road ride. We went up a road we normally go down. Locally, it's called the Plunge. Going down it I've passed a motorcycle. This road climbs 1,000 feet in 5 miles, most of it at the bottom. The top is really rollers. It was so nice to do a hard climb and feel good. I've missed that feeling.

    Yipppppeeeeee!!!

I'm so happy to hear you're feeling better V. It's terrible to like your body just is not doing what it's supposed to or used to do. It almost feels like a betrayal. But now you're back and all's well with the hill climbing nutcake world.!!

Thanks! Although my husband has informed me that I'm not really climber, no matter how much I might like it. When he's riding regularly, like this summer, he kicks my a$$ up all the climbs. But then he drafts me when we hit the rollers.

He really phrased it like a compliment though when he said it. It was more about liking the drafting, than dropping me on the hills.

    Yay!! Good for you!

I've learned through the years that my riding goes through peaks and valleys (figuratively, not just literally ) and I just can't let myself get too worried about the "down" times. Things generally get better.

Glad to hear they have for you!

That's because he likes to check out your powerful engine from the best possible vantage point.

Yay! I wondered if your "adventures" had an effect on you. Perhaps your body and mind just needed a teeny rest. Glad you're back to your sturdy, climbing Princess Zippy self!
