Best jersey for high temps

Well, I'm cycling in the sweltering heat (high 90's) and I absolutely love Pearl Izumi Select jersey with the Ultra Sensor fabric. I have yet to find a better wicking fabric than this. And I also bought the Short Attack short made with the same fabric.

What keeps me suprisingly cool is sunscreen. I use the Bullfrog Marathon Mist with 36 spf spray and it really does keep me cooler. Don't know why but it works.

The Assos white cycling shorts are really cool looking. Have you tried any of their shorts? How's the chamois?

I just read you don't want flowers, but maybe another with the material? It is really light and breathable!

Just another vote for this jersey. I just ordered it, and although we don't have hot weather, I am going to take it to Shasta. It feels wonderful on, and fits great. It is very light weight and after I washed it, it was dry in NO time. That doesn't often happen up here in rainforest-land.

Thanks! Seems to be popular enough to try. Not sure on the sizing though. I see it's listed as 'semi-fitted'.. is that accurate or should I size down if I like more of a pro fit?

My husband bought the Sugoi jersey for me in the medium since he saw all of my other jerseys are mediums. Even with a generous bust I probably could wear a small. I didn't return it because I felt I was in between the small and medium. If you like more pro fit I would go down a size. The waist flares slightly and has no elastic, so down a size will probably give a slimmer fit.

My other favorite! The Sugoi jersey I mentioned is better in my opinion, but this one is a good wicking jersey.

I agree you should go down a size if you want a slim fit. I bought a large and was glad to see they were running big, because I've put on weight that is showing up in more thickness through my back, bust and waist. But, when I get back to my more normal size, there will be other large jerseys that still fit well, and this one will be too big, eventually.

I will say, though, that even though this one is running large, the armholes still provided enough coverage and so forth. There are no big gaping parts. It is still cut well over all. The extra roominess seems to be just sort of all over, not really sloppy over-sized anywhere in particular.

Try the Gore Bike Wear Xenon SS jersey (white, black, and fuschia sold on team estrogen, orange at Terry Bicycles). This jersey is very lightweight with small mesh panels on the sides and a large one on the back. I bought too and wear nothing else right now. I'd have 4 but I don't care for pink and black in the summer is just too hot). Very cool and comfortable on 90+ degree rides.

I just have to put another plug in for this jersey. I just ordered two from Terry (they're on sale and I ordered just in time to get free shipping too). Wore the white one for the first time today on a 45 mile, hilly, windy, 80 degree ride and it was as cool as a sleeveless jersey. The mesh is just SO lightweight. The cut is beautiful and flattering and has plenty of torso length (short jerseys are one of my pet peeves). And the pockets are roomy (my second biggest jersey pet peeve is small pockets).


If TE ever puts the pink one on sale I'm definitely getting it.

EO short-sleeved jerseys are now my favorite for hot & humid weather. The venting is perfect and the styling/quality/fabric is top notch. Luckily, I was able to find some at a relatively reasonable sale price, so now I'm hooked.

Before I tried out the EOs and was won over, I wore only the Terry Sun Goddess jerseys in the heat/humidity. I still like those ones and will rotate those w/my EOs.

One thing i'd like to point out is for very hot weather - try a good summer/heat baselayer by Craft, Giordana, Pearl. I know it sounds counter intuitive but they exist for a reason. They're made specifically to cool your body down.

But I agree with Equus123 here.
I've become a base-layer convert this year. I use (a tad too often - I need to get a second one!) the Under Armour Heat Gear base layer. I got it at REI, but it's also at other places. At first, I was hesitant to wear TWO layers on a hot day, but it does a great job at wicking sweat and keeping me comfy. And, as an added bonus, I have not had the acne issue I've had in season's past because of too much sweat on my skin for too long.

The Terry Breakaway sleeveless jersey has also been comfy for me on really hot rides.

Of course, when it gets TOO hot and sticky down here...I stay inside in the air conditioning!

but, but, but, if I wait until it cools off, that would be November. I'm currently lusting after the mesh jerseys I saw in the Terry catalogue.
