800-HOGS FLY and you'll have it tomorrow! FedEx makes the world seem smaller!
Well, if you know Jim & Nicks, you know Milos that is owned by Silver's cousins too! (Cousins????? It might be "third cousins, twice removed"...but that only matters in the south!)
For years, my office was across the street from Corky's original location...made many a U-turn on Poplar Avenue on a spring day as I drove by and got a whiff of that BBQ cooking!

THere's only one Memphis In May!
http://memphisinmay.org/home.html
May 17-19, 2007. It's the Super Bowl of Swine. The College of Pig Knowledge. The Granddaddy of Grills. The Largest Pork Barbecue Cooking Contest on the Planet.
The sweetest smelling cloud hovers over Memphis Hickory, pork, tomato, mustard, vinegar, more pork ... Three stuffed days of smoked heaven where contestants eat, sleep, and live pig. All oink wildly, trying to win more than $61,050 in prizes.
Grillmasters and goodtimers will descend on Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis for serious competition that's seriously fun. Even the grills dress up for this party like fire trucks, airplanes, piggy banks, pot bellied stoves; you name it, it's probably here.
More than 90,000 pork lovers from around the globe Australia, Russia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Estonia, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand and the United Kingdom gather together to testify about their special sauces, rubs, ribs, and whatnot in Pig-dom.
And, there's the Sharp Stage, the site of world-class musical entertainment and the Ms. Piggie competition (grown men in snouts and tutus). You'll see funny faces, famous faces, and might end up having your face on one of these special reports on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Southern Living Network, PBS, A&E, TBS, Gourmet Magazine, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart Living TV, or one of many other media reports.

For me - I love it all!
Your making me REALLY want to take a trip down your way! Of course our friends moved from Hoover to Villa Rica GA a few years ago, but I can still stay a day in B'ham just for the cue. I had Williamson brothers in GA, as well as Jim n Nicks at their GA location, but I like the one in B'ham better. Actually I think it was in Pelham? Can't remember, but yes you can smell good cue from MILES away!!
And here I am trying to watch the diet in prep for the big race!! You know I DO have to get on a scale at registration in front of ALL the other athletes!![]()
Yes, but for all the endless debate, there's still only one that earns the title....MEMPHIS!![]()

Here's the reason: I don't eat food with my fingers...but dry (that is, seasoned) ribs from the Rendevous...now that's worth getting your fingers messy for...SO, if Memphis ribs could convert me, then they must be the best.![]()

Oh and CC- In the south it's mostly pork. Texas is known for their beef brisket.
It's a very regional thing. Right down to dry rub (seasoning of the meat) or wet, and what kind of sauce that comes with it. Vinegar based, tomato or no, mustard based etc. You could literally tour parts of this country and just go around tasting different kinds of bbq- or 'cue.
Hey, you left out Interstate! http://www.jimneelysinterstatebarbecue.com/history.htmlRendevous/Memphis: www.hogsfly.com

But maybe you weather wimps (see other thread) are too wimpy to venture down to South 3rd.
And Corky's is a sell-out, since you can buy it in the freezer department all over the country. :P
