It was a sharp jolt, very quick. No damage hear in Hayweird. The early quake detection system (dog) is now flopped down, relaxed on the floor so must not be any aftershocks coming.

Felt it here in Palo Alto... sitting in my living room watching American Idol with my Mom who is visiting (and had never felt an earthquake). Felt two distinct waves, sort of a sway both time (probably the S and Surface waves coming through). Being that I study geophysics, my first reaction was total excitement
It is only the second earthquake I felt, so I still get pretty excited.... Glad that everyone is OK, and no real damage.

It felt like 2 very loud rumbly jolts here, and Simon leapt up to go bark at the door (forgetting that he only has the use of 2.5 legs at the moment). Nothing fell over though.

Even now, when I hear a lot of dogs suddenly start barking all at once, I reflexively tense up & wonder if we're about to have a quake.
