DH and I took my new Cannondale Synapse out for a spin today. We had set out to do about 50, but that didn't work out. It was 55 degrees, but there was a 16 mph WNW headwind.Sometimes the wind would gust to 30 mph, it wasn't fun. We decided to do a route that was shorter and more manageable in the wind. I haven't been out on the road much lately and I could tell. My poor knees were swelling from the cold air and lack of exercise lately.
The new bike rides like a dream. The Shimano 105 is so much smoother than the Shimano Sora I had been riding. I can only imagine what my DH's Dura Ace is like. The carbon bike made the road much friendly. I also realized the saddle we put on there was the perfect fit.![]()
Today's ride was 30.80 miles.
Overall 2006 was a milestone year for me:
Total miles: 2,554.67
Average Speed: 16.55
*Note: My original goal was 3,000, but I spent much of the late summer/fall worrying about my DH's health. I am pleased to have hit 2,500.

Almost went out did another 12 so i could pass bike Goddess for #5 on the TE Bike Journal list. Still not bad, considering I sat out 2 months with a broken shoulder.
then I went out with the group in the afternoon when it was a little warmer high 30's I think and I did another 27 miles. In my 1st full year of cycling I have done 3503 miles. I am happy
I thought I had everything right...bike, food, clothing, but I guess itwas just one of those days. Slogged the last 28km into a cold headwind with spitting rain, but managed a total of 56km for the last ride of the year.
