can't say i'm good at it. i just go out and do it. i don't have anyone to compare myself to out here so i'm probably really bad compared to the rest of the world. same with cycling. i just go out and do it.

my day seems like its dragging too. this morning went quick, not i have an hour left that seems like forever.

Nanci-Your riding amazes and inspires me. I am glad you had such a nice time. Do you have any pictures?

I still cannot ride, but I have been out running. Who knew I would love it so much? Everyone here, without knowing it, pushes me to try to be a better athlete, A huge sappy Thank You to each one of you!

People suck, bread is good for you, and I did not hit a squirrel on my way home, and the truck behind me didn't even spazz out.

I saw the Stones here earlier this year. They are legends and that's why I went but it wasn't the best concert I've ever been to. Mick has phenominal energy but looking at Keith Richards, I swear, I was waiting for the guy to die right there in front of me. (8th row tix!) I saw them on their Steel Wheels tour and this one just came up a little short. Compared to most of the other bands out there today, they're still one of the best tickets though. You won't be disappointed.
Bonnie is GREAT live. I've seen her 3 times over the years. She just gets better with age. What a dynamite bill for a concert. You're a lucky woman. Overall, I'd put Bonnie and Melissa Etheridge as the two best concerts I've ever been to. (Just went to another Melissa concert on my graduation day in Aug. and she's even better than before. FWIW - If you ever get a chance to go, I highly recommend you don't miss it.)

Hehehe... that's sooo cool! I was out riding with a friend last week and we busted out singing the Time Warp. (among others) I love going to RHPS parties!!! Did my first one back in 1993 and got hooked. They used to do a showing once a month in Harrisburg at an old theatre. Oh, the place was so trashed after every one. Good times, good times... I haven't been to one in a few years. Maybe the girls and I need to hit one for old times sake. I'd go as Frankenfurter - he's my fav. Just LOVE Tim Curry!! I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Ugh. Today was such a *nice* day until all the weird stuff started happening. The personal stuff is too weird to bring here, but for work, we had to both evacuate two production lines due to ventilation problems AND I just called the ER to transport another employee because he's got a severe migraine going on. Ugh. Why can't it just be quiet like EVERY OTHER NIGHT?!

Eh, whatever. It's still a nice night. Knot, have you decided on any other hot pics of Flossie to show us?

    Hope it starts going better.

buh-buh-but.... we ran out of fixin's....
The Bailey's was first to go- it went in my coffee, too.
Grand Marnier goes well in 7-up and Fresca. We killed that a couple nights ago...
Last night saw the last of the Kaluah. DGF did it neat in shots... while I watched in admiration

But there's cider at home... so that'll be okay. The thing about incidents here is if it's a chem. spill or a medical incident, we have to have our report done the very next morning... so that means I have to stay after until it's called 'all clear' even if it's another 6 hours. =P

oh! That reminds me, I got a call back again- Interview next tues with the financial planner- very promising. At least there I wouldn't have to take the phones with me into the bathrooms...

Kitsune: Awww... all out? If you were my SS, I'd be sendin' ya a really "user friendly" package, if you know what I mean.
I had a job (for 15 yrs) that wrecked my nerves and made me feel like crude. At the end, I used to get panick attacks walking in everyday. Had to go to the chiro 2x/week to get the kinks out of my neck. I feel for ya Kit. I hope the financial planner one comes through for you. You seem like a great gal and I wish you all the best!!

Florida riding, soot in the basement, various stuff

The Lake Okeechobee ride sounds mostly beautiful. My spouse is now in West Palm Beach for the work week, taking 20-mile rides on his folding bike every morning before work. Not sure either of us would be able to manage daytime Florida riding, at least in the summer.

SO....we are back in the house, living in the basement for the duration of the remodel. While we spent those two weeks in the Paine Field Hilton watching airplanes, they had to replace the old furnace chimney because the clay liner had totally crumbled. They cleaned up mounds of soot, but there is still a fine layer of soot dust over all our belongings in the basement. You know--the place where we now have to live for the next few months. Probably the soot soaked up any remaining moisture from that flood, though, don't you think?

When they started banging on the floor, bits of the hideous acoustic tile ceiling in the basement started falling down, sifting in my tea. So that has to come out too (boy, so sad. I hated that ceiling). But not till everything else is done, so that means in approximately a million years, I think.

But the exterior walls are up and dried-in, the new roof is on, and the inside rooms are framed so you can start to see what it'll really look like when it's done. The new windows are all in. And the four skylights.

Brief Mom report for those of you who were following: She went from the hospital to skilled nursing facility for rehab in mid-September, but has been back in the hospital twice in the last week as they try to balance her fluids (not enough Lasix---some CHF; too much Lasix--early kidney failure). She's gamely sticking with it but not getting much better so far. We are still hoping she can, though. Still has her sense of humor, but you can tell it's hard work.

I am going to get gold/copper-colored streaks put in my hair tomorrow morning and will do a 40+ mile ride after that! Gotta take your fun where you can find it, you know...

X- Thanks for your wellwishes. I think things'll turn up. Glad you're somewhere better now. This one isn't so much stressful as it's a pain and sometimes degrading and feels like a total dead-end. *shrugs* I'll be out soon enough- just have to remind myself to keep doing the very best I can while I'm still here.

salsa- Copper/gold highlights look SO good in naturally brownish/reddish hair. I hope your mom starts doing better... that's a hard place to be in. Glad your house is starting to come together a bit more, though. Lots of positive energy for you.

Kit--sorry to hear it's so lousy. Like everyone else, I'm pulling for a new and much better job for you.

Salsa, I'm glad to hear things are looking up with the house. Keeping your mom, and SK and CWR's folks in my thoughts, too.

I sent out a PM about my fun dates with the SG. If you didn't get it, and want me to send it to you, just let me know! L.

Not much. This job is just lousy. Because it's a 24/7 facility, they "have" to have a receptionist here 24/7. So they thought for awhile about how to do that on the super-cheap and got around to the idea that "Oh! our super-cheap contracted security officers are here 24/7- we'll have them do it!" so we're receptionists at this building 24/7 and for the main line after their 'real' receptionist goes home... and since emergency calls some in on the same line that prank/telemarketing/transferred calls come in on, we get the right/privilage/orders to transfer all incoming calls to a mobicell and have to take the mobicell into the restrooms etc with us- no breaks, no lunch, etc etc.
Hope it's not TMI, but when someone has IBS and wants to scurry to the bathroom, the LAST thing they want to do is answer the ****** phone while they're in there!!!

So that's my rant. Hopefully my next job will have fewer weird indignities.
