BTW, I didn't take the mouse picture. I held open the box while my friend (copyright on photo) played with his fancy new camera. Mice are a big part of the AT hiking experience, so you learn to appreciate them when they look cute rather than when they are attacking your food bag or keeping you awake at night.

I'm leaving tomorrow on a business trip, but this is going to be fun too. Taking my bike and riding with a friend tomorrow evening. Science meeting for 2.5 days, stay with friend for 2 nights, visit cousin-in-law for a day, stop to visit my sister for a night on the drive home, stop to visit my son at college in CT. I've got new brake pads to install on my sister's bike. She's got an old Schwinn that somebody gave her. I overhauled it a couple years ago. It's a heavy bike with a 1-piece crank, but she only rides around the neighborhood and it's fine for her.

    Mouse

You need a mouse-proof box for the book. No matter how you evict the previous mice, more will fill in.

Knot- Flossie is gorgeous, and in a very modern-art way, that avatar is really sexy, but I can't put my finger on just how.

DebW- isn't that a little white-footed Deer mouse? The type that carries deerticks/lyme disease? Always the downer. Still, Meesums are SO cute. He reminds me of the mouse (Dan) I had in HS.

CWR- Glad you got a day off!

Yesterday was like a mini-weekend. Had the day off to do some event with work buddies, but skipped it to hang out with the Parents out-law (the OutLaws) and had a ton of fun- went to a local sushi house and shared a bottle of some of the nicest sake I've had yet. Didn't get the name, though. D'oh!
Also, called back one of the places that called me re: my resume- they knew exactly who I was, what I was calling for, and said they were looking forward to my call as soon as I said my name. Wonderful! I'm looking forward to a call back as the manager was out of the office today for a sort of convention.

    Falling down on the job?

only 6 pages? Of course maybe you had a week end like I did at the 508. Homey from Bike Journal had pulled his hamstring playing softball, and rode his first stage at a 12.8 average . I got an hour's sleep on Saturday. I was sitting in passenger seat and Jae (Nicole's DH), would punch me every I started to fall asleep, so I could pass something to Nicole, who road 170 miles at night. we finally got Homey back at full speed after leaving death valley. I wound driving all but the last 10 miles Sunday night. we finished about 11:30. Finally, I could go to the bathroom without finding the appropriate sized creosote bush! Nicole was smarter than moi and wore a large skirt (Maybe our Great-Great Grandmother were right with their Fashion sense) Got a thirty miler in Felt real good. Now, to disabuse myself of the crazy notion of entering the 508 in a different category than this time....

    Been a bit distracted

Saturday Morning, the Animal Rescue group I volunteer for had some one break in and wreak mayhem http://www.king5.com/localnews/stori....175b074e.html

Cats and Birds and little furry critters were all let out of their cages, and deaths and injuries ensued.

Some of the cats were hurt (but not gravely) none of the birds were hurt because they didn't leave their cages (it was nighttime) a bunch of expensive snakes and lizards were stolen, but some of the little rodenty things got smashed, murdered. Fortunately, not all of them. what a yucky story.

How stupid. How awful. Some people really have something wrong with them.
Is it known if this person was just doing it to cause mayhem or to 'rescue' animals?
It brings to mind the idiots who 'rescue' mink et all from mink farms and turn them loose (animals that have never BEEN free) so they can get hit in the road or starve to death, etc OR wreak havoc on the local ecology.
Some days, I really do hate people.

Well, now I'm even more excited about my trip to Las Vegas. The opening act for the Stones is going to be Bonnie Rait. I can hardly contain myself, I want to leave now!

Bought a glorius bat at Michael's, he has a 36" wingspan. He'll look great on the porch with all the other stuff. They also had little "hay bales", perfect for the pumpkin display.

Oooh, Bonnie Raitt! (I'd be more excited about her than about the stones.)

    How cool! Have fun!

Ooooh! I'd be thrilled about the Stones (but Bonnie Raitt would be good to see, too!) and both! Woo!

A friend just called (at work?!) to tell me about a party he's throwing for Halloween. at 11 everyone's going downtown to see Rocky Horror Picture Show, in costume!

    "trying to find the garters-and-belt-and-corset-and-tophat!"
    Halloween RULES!!!!!

Snap-you are going to have a wonderful time. Your front porch sounds very Halloween-y. Pity there is not a Halloween smilie.

Kitsune- I have not been to the Rocky Horror Picture Show since the 80's. Time flies. You will have a blast! Again, I need a Halloween smilie

Rocky Horror! BMom3, I think it's been that long for me too! I wonder what I did with all my old costumes/paraphernalia. Oh for the days when I could run around in garters and a corset ---- and look good!

Kit - have fun, do the Time Warp for me.

Yeah, I think it was the 80's last time I saw it, too. Like 1987.

had the soundtrack. Played it a jillion times.

Kit, don't forget your newspaper, squirt gun, and toast!
