Some day he will be in a wheel chair, which hurts my heart but he is not going down till he absolutly can't do it any more. I am sorry for your illness but it is awsome that you keep moving forward. You will be in my thoughts when we are on this trip with our friend!
Brandi, MS takes many, many forms and faces. It affects each of us differently and, while I don't know about your friend, there is no guarantee that a wheelchair will ever be necessary. Don't worry about the future for him. He's doing that all on his own. Just be there for the times when he may need help during a flare (which may be frequently or hardly ever) and buy him a jersey!
Check out this bike team. Two members have MS. Biogen Idec manufactuers Avonex, one of the MS therapies.
