    Uncle Sam Wants Me

I got a phone call today that went like this.

    Ms. Zen?

    Who's calling?

    This is Sgt. Hoss.

(at this point I'm thinking State Police)

    Of?

    Of the U. S. Army.

    OOOHHH No!
I've already done my time in the Army and you can't make me go back!

He laughed and thanked me for my time.

Has it gotten this bad that they're cold calling people?

I am 5 feet tall and weigh just a little over 100 lbs - right about the time I was graduating from high school I started getting cold calls from the MARINES....

    That's scary!

I was in the army myself.....

I certainly would not appreciate cold calls from a recruiter

I don't know what requirements the Marines have but the Army will take anybody they can get

Actually, this is quite true! Now, you can get in without a high school diploma or GED. They even recruit former gangbangers......I know a few!

When I was in high school I thought about joining up... for about 5 minutes.

But I sure would love to be able to do those one-handed decline pushups like Demi Moore in GI Jane

I always thought they had height requirements - but I don't see anything now (this was almost 20 years ago ) I guess they are getting pretty desparate.

I'm pretty sure the Marines don't have a height requirement (my son had a 5'2" man in his unit at one point), but they do have strict requirements for passing the physical fitness tests. There are height restrictions for certain jobs.
And you have to be a HS grad.
My son is 5' 8".5 and looks really small compared to some of the other Marines. But, he is stronger than anyone. When he was racing, he was strong and skinny. Now he is strong and buff.

I do have lot of respect for those who serve in the military. There is just no way I would survive in the basic training. Mentally,I'm just not there nor that kind of person.

    Zen,

I think I could of had lots of fun with that one.

get hysterical "OMG OMG!!! IS MY SON OKAY!! MY SON WASN'T KILLED? OMG OMG!!!" hyper ventilate... "I think I'm going to pass out..." talk non stop for like five minutes so that he can't put in a word.

    I have fun with telemarketters.
"Haro haro.. yes I speak ingrish..." let then talk away for 5 minutes or more with interjection of "ah huh" then when I get tired "Excuse me, I no understand... can you explain again about (first point)" And laugh...

oh I would love to buy that on a credit. but my home is being foreclosed and I'm filing for a bankrupcy. Can I still get that on a credit though???

I'd be the perfect marine except that whole questioning authority thing that I seem to do continuously
