Running Coach - Update - Week 20
Week 20?! WOW!
5 months of working with my running coach. Such a long time! HA!
Today, was "let's do drills" day! Basically, we are trying to stregthen some weak areas to get my inflamed areas to stop hurting so much.
We did SO MANY straight-leg-dead-lifts with 20 pounds dumb bells (aka: 40 lbs total). My hamstrings are doing to hurt for DAYS! So, I know I will be doing my own ride on Saturday, instead of the group ride.
Other than that, I was given 4 drills to work on this week. I would type them out, but honestly, they just don't traslate well on "paper".
Of course, I get to do more straight-leg-dead-lifts this week!
Otherwise, I will NOT be running again until 9-17-06. That's my 2nd/last tri of the season.
I know my cardio will not be up to par by then to run the 5K, but if I can get the inflamation in my legs to FINALLY go down (it's been there for a good 2 weeks now)... I think I have my running form modified enough that I could get close to running the 5K. Yes, a lofty idea, but it might happen. It won't be FAST mind you, but maybe I can get my per minute mile below 13 (since I can walk a 13 minute mile).
After this tri, other than a bike rally in October, my season is done. Hopefully, in the "off season" (Oct-April) I can slowly get back to running. I will certainly have enough time to ramp it up!
I'm sad that I missed this entire tri season, and only competed in two events... but I know it's for the best. I also know that I wouldn't have been able to "muscle" through anymore runs with the pain I was/am having.
