I keep eyeing this ride - I just don't know if I'm up for that amount of climbing yet!
    ~~Tiffanie~~

Your biggest challenge isn't someone else.
It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs and the voice inside that yells "CAN'T".
But you don't listen. You just push harder.
And then you hear the voice whisper "CAN".
And you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are.

LOL! We're signed up for the Hideous Hundred. Don't ask me how I convinced Thom to do this - actually he said he'd do the first climb and then turn around.

I'm hoping, praying the Legolas will be done.

I kind of figured you'd go for the hideous hundred. I have a sixth sense that way.

Plus you get a patch for completing that one, so how could one resist?

Just my 2 cents on the Spook... it's one of my favorite event rides. I try and promote it as much as possible. This year I won't be able to do it so I'm hoping all you who can... please go. Best of all - coolest jersey designs!!! I love all my spook jerseys.

This is a very unusual ride. It's basically out in the middle of no where. Toughest thing for me is going 100 miles without a stop sign, street light, nothing. You keep riding and riding and riding. The sags are great and scenery is well... interesting. Parts of the ride are gorgeous and parts are... not so gorgeous. If you do this ride, please ride with a buddy. The ride does not attract many people so it's possible to be out there alone for miles and miles (again... in the middle of nowhere). Weather can be very cold (first year I did it the summit was 29 degrees!!!) or hot. Be prepared.

I've done the 40, metric, 90 and horrible 100. Not the Hideous. Hideous is a Caligurl ride. It basically climbs up a mountain for 32 miles (I've driven the route - it is beautiful - definitely the road less travel - grade goes from 5 - 15% - in the turns). The Horrible is tough but doable (even for this fat old lady).

Anyway since when this ride comes around I'll be couch surfing, please keep me informed if you do the ride. Again a favorite and I'm sad I will miss it.
