I think I may have gone too far ...

    Hi Ladies,

Today was my second ride since my accident in May. (The doctor says that my fracture is healed enough that I can't screw it up further and that I have to start riding to try to get my cartilage to go back to it's original shape.) My first ride was really short and sort of in the neighborhood. Today I rode about 17 miles. I was going along just fine and even doing 15-16 mph on the flats. But then I hit my first climb since May -- about 800 feet over a mile. Not a super big climb, I know, but it's a start.

Anyways, I'm huffing and puffing up this climb as slow as molassis, but at least I'm moving (I lost all of my cardio!). Then this guy comes up along side of me. He starts calling me Babe and is all Rico Suave with me. Of course, he's a total Lance wannabe -- Trek Madone with the Discover Channel paint scheme, full Discovery Channel kit, Gyro Atmos in team colors, Discover Channel water bottle and, of course, a pair of Oakley's identical to Lance's. He starts telling me that if I ride with him, he can teach me how to be a real cyclist but that I was doing OK for a beginner. He was so condescending and kept calling me Babe and Hon. I kept answering with grunts and one syllable answers as he kept talking hoping that he'd get the hint and leave me alone.

We finally got to the top, and I decided that I was going to drop this guy. I stopped at a light and waited to make a left hand turn. He wanted me to keep continue straight with him so that he could "teach me a little bit about cycling" and I told him that I had to get home. He then suggested that we ride together tomorrow, again so that he could teach me somehting. The light turned green and as I was taking off I said "Thanks, but my doctor promises me that I'll be riding just fine again as soon as my leg isn't broken any more!". I looked over my shoulder after I completed the turn and he was standing there with his jaw dropped. I then hit 38 mph on the descent and even passed a car (while I was in the bike lane -- no sense being stupid).

Was I too *****y to this guy?

I want to see the look on his face when your leg is healed and you pass the posing POS on the same climb. "Hi there, remember me honey? I'm feeling much better now"

Now THAT is motivation to train.
