Oh I don't think there is any doubt you will complete the ride.
Now perfectly coordinating food and bathroom breaks might prove to be a bit of a challenge. But you'll make the 100 miles![]()

Yep. We will be attempting our first 100 mile ride.
Neither of us have met in person, but we have chatted on the phone, and have IM'ed through TE!
We will be in Whichita Fallas, TX riding the Hotter Than Hell bike rally. It's a HUGE rally, and is very challenging, as it's sure to be 100F+ on Saturday!

I have mapped out a ride plan though, detailing our miles, breaks, pace, and how long we can stop for rest stops. I typically would NOT do this, but since we have to make it to Hell's Gate/60 miles by 12:30 PM, a plan had to be made.
We have body glide, new shorts, cycling jerseys, camelbak's, gloves, sunblock, gel shots, and positive attitudes.
Hopefully,we are ready.

Make sure you are taking enough electrolytes, regularly. I'd even go so far as to set a 30 minute timer on your watch. Not enough can cause _so_ much trouble- and you'll be right in the worst heat range...
(I finished 16th out of 42 riders on my last 200k, not because I am fast- I was going about 14 mph, but because I wasn't at the side of the road puking or rubbing my muscle cramps. It makes a HUGE difference!)
Also, it really, really, really helps to put ice in you helmet, bra, down the back of your shorts, etc. Feels good, and if you can keep your core temp down, you can keep moving and not have to spend a lot of time trying to cool off, off your bike.
Good luck!!

My husband and I are also going to Wichita Falls to do the HHH. This will be our second year. We really enjoyed it last year.
Cass C- Well, I have an idea of how much time we can spend overall at rest stops. So, when it happens... well... I'm flexible. But I have scheduled an hour of rest stops for the 100 miles. "Best made plans...."
Nanci- By Electrolytes... do you mean what comes in Gatoraid? Or what I can take in via Clif Shot Blocks?
I will remember to put ice in my shirt when I can! You are so right...cooling the core is important.
If you have any other suggestions, please pass them on.. you are such a pro at distances!
And, we will be keeping around a 14 mph pace. I know at that pace I feel like I could ride all day without trying.
Denda- Good luck with your ride! I am sure you two will do great! It's my/our first year.

DH and I have gone back and forth on whether to go on this ride. I want to go, and he had worked out to give his overtime away, and then we thought, nah, we'll wait and then I see you girls posting about going and now I want to go again. LOL
Why not come ride with us?Originally Posted by DDH

As I said, we did this last year. We got lucky though. It was cloudy and cool all day! It doesn't look like that will be the case this year. And my husband doesn't handle extreme heat real well. I hope we finish!
Well, I might come ride the ride, but you will have to be on your own for the 100 miles. No way am I ready for that.LOL
Awwwww! This is sooooo great to be part of something! It was great to be able to hook up with KSH through TE! I don't know if I would have done the ride without the support of another person. It is so wonderful to have that!Originally Posted by KSH
And let me tell you, KSH is quite organized with getting us to ride the 100 miles. I know we can do it and I know that there are so many other women that want to do it, but think you can't. Wish us luck...wish that our bums won't be too bad Monday morning when we have to go back to work!![]()

My boyfriend thanked me as well... AFTER the MS150... and I "encouraged" him to ride 135 miles in two days (before the ride, he had done at the most 40 miles at one time, and had NEVER ridden back to back days before).
Of course, during the ride on the 2nd days, he was hating me and the hills. At one point, he got so frustrated and annoyed... he literally got off his bike and threw it on the side of the road and sat down. It was a *rough* day to say the least.
But, we got him up...we walked up the hill... and we finished riding.
After it was done, he thanked me for getting him through it all.
Moral of the story Heidi... you might want to kill me come mile 75 and I'm going, "We can do this... just keep pedaling... we can do this". Be warned, you might also get the, "Half of this sport is mental... and we can't let the mental beat us... " speak as well!

I am so jealous of you girls
I am doing my first century this weekend, and I am riding it by myself, I am hoping to find someone to ride with but not raising my hopes high. I wish I had someone to ride with and yell at me at mile 75 !!!
Good luck on your century, I will be waiting to hear your report and will post mine as well. Take pictures!!!
