    Running Coach - Update - Week 18

Well, this past week, I have to be honest and say I totally slacked off my drills that were assigned to me. I think I have lost some steam and motivation. Not to mention, I am a little beaten down by 10 straight days of exercising.

But, I did run Monday and tried to Wednesday:

    MONDAY-

Went to the track for a 40 minute run/walk combo. I felt pretty good and my lower legs did not burn. Calves felt a little twitchy... but it was OK. I ended up running 1.14 miles (not straight!) and walking 28 m. I went a total of 3.2 miles.

    WEDNESDAY-

Went to the track for a 40 minute run/walk combo. My lower legs on the inside were pretty tight and not feeling too good. But I figured I would be able to muster up some running. WRONG! Just trying to run HURT too much. The pain was so bad my form was not correct. So, I ditched trying to run and just stuck to walking. It hurt to walk even. I tried a few drills, but those hurt too. So, I did 2 miles and 30 mintues of walking. My boyfriend was very sweet and walked the whole way with me, even though he needed to run. I kept encouraging him to run... but he declined.

    TODAY (Thursday)-

Went to see my coach for the 18th week. I almost cancelled because I am riding 100 miles on Saturday, but he said we would take it easy.

So, I got the "sports massage" on my legs and we did just one drill to help strengthen some fine muscles in my lower legs. This will hopefully stop the pain I am experiencing on the insides of my legs.

That is all I need to do for the next week.

Good luck on the ride, KSH! Maybe it'll be just the distraction your mind needs from your running drills. Losing interest is hard, maybe your running coach can give you some advice or something that'll keep you motivated Of course, he may be the last person you want to be motivated by
