    Bike Computers?

...are they all about the same?

I'm taking my road bike in for the 30 day tune up/check up this weekend and wanted to get a computer installed. Are there any I should avoid? Lean towards? A quick google search has left me confused.

I have 2. My first one was inexpensive and I bought it at Target. It was a Schwinn and worked wonderfully, only problem is I bought a trainer and wanted cadence and needed to hook it to my rear tire. So I bought a Cateye with Candence. I do not see any difference in the two, other than the cheaper one had more functions and a lower price tag.

    Thanks Jen.

I posted this on another forum and someone recommended the CatEye Astrale 8 which lists at $39.00. Do you know the model you have? I don't need many functions but would like speed and cadence if possible (apparently some have heart rate monitors, elevation etc....)

I have the Cateye Astrale 8 with cadence - I love it - there are many of us here that like that computer - inexpensive, easy to install and very reliable. And having the cadence is great.
    Keep calm and carry on...

    Sweet.

I just called the LBS where I got my bike (Ok it's not local to me...but it had a bike on sale in my size so I drove over an hour to get her) and where I'm taking her to get my free tune up.

Yes they do have the CatEye Astrale 8 and can install it for me.

    Thanks for your help ladies!

I think you will really like it. I love mine and my not so local bike store installed mine in about 5 minutes.

Both my DH and I have Shimano Fligh Deck. We love them because they are wireless and they also show in which gear you. They have time, cadence, stopwatch, and a whole bunch of other things. It is not cheap but I strongly recommend it. No extra wires = happyness.
