Nice ride in this morning with 62 degrees and no wind. Got a new headlight over the weekend and that made quite a difference. How was your ride today?

I love fall weather, and there's a touch of it this morning. My morning commute was right on target, surprising given that I rode 40 miles of hills yesterday.

Yes, yes, fall is in the air ... and ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Students start this week and they're EVERYWHERE It's just a little like tourist-ville, except they will stay a little longer ...

I rode my Giro to work this morning with the hopes that our first faculty meeting of the year would not go on forever and a day. It broke up a little after 4:30, I quickly grabbed my bike and took off from school. I wanted to see if I could possibly duplicate yesterday's speedy ride. I quickly discovered my legs were tired but I kept pushing myself. In the end I got in 23 miles with an average speed of 15.5 mph. I think I'm getting the hang of my recumbent for I feel so much stronger and I now know I can get my average speed up into the range I shoot for when I ride and maintain it.

The weather was finally cooler and we had a wonderful 10 mile family ride this evening.

Dh and I rode after dinner last night. 10.3 miles and we took a different route. I was following him. We hit a couple of killer hills that always slow me down so bad. We get home and he says "were you struggling tonight for some reason".
I just looked at him. I told him, I cannot ride like that on a full stomach in this heat and push hard.
I think I do better by myself. I know it's not his fault but it makes me ill how he can get on that bike after not being on it for years and ride a couple of times and take off and leave me in the dust. I have been riding for a month and he has only been able to go on a few rides with me and does that pretty much from the begining. Then ask me if I am struggling.
I mean he rode that organized ride 26 miles and had not ridden but twice with me since I started riding again, and still beat me. No by much mind you, but still got back before me. I mean I can brag on him, but at the same time, well it's just not fair.!!

Rode home from work last night. It was a good ride...little traffic, so it was actually relaxing instead of the usual nerve wracking.

Pace was a tad faster than usual at 17 mph... nice!
