Same commute, different day! No flats, rather borish, nice and cool, though.

Nice and cool this morning for my commute (6.9 miles, mostly downhill)... I borrowed DH's vest, and was glad to have it (yet another thing added to my wish list! ).

The Dunkin' Donuts customers remain dedicated to trying to kill me... I remain dedicated to not being killed... same old, same old.

Tonight, I will ride the full commute home - 13 miles... mostly uphill (will come back to the Park & Ride wih DH later to pick up my truck). My first try at the full ride. I'm working up to the full commute BOTH ways!

18 miles. Took PCH toward Newport instead of Long Beach, that was a first. Had two different cyclists tell me that they liked my new jersey!

Only 16.5 km today - my legs were still tired from yesterday - almost got taken out by a driver who decided to pass me on the left as I was making a lefthand turn - umm... no...that doesn't work

Finally got my lazy butt out of bed and commuted in. It has been a while! It was a close one though, I laid back down for a few minutes, about to give up and then the motivation hit.

DH joined so it made the ride in really nice. It was rather cool out this morning, I should have dressed a bit warmer. Only one car honked on a narrow stretch of road, not too bad!

    my turn my turn:

Same route, different day, NEW BIKE!!!!! Started my morning commute on my new bike and man did I feel all scrunched up. Hmmmm - don't remember that feeling during the several test rides, maybe it's just me. First time on the Keo pedals - wow....I might just like these better than the old Looks I've got on the other bike.....jury still out but we'll see....and MAN Knee Pain....where did That come from??

Just call me Goofy, in setting the bike up last night I very dumbly pushed the seat all the way Forward instead of Back.........Oh...wellll. Got out of the bike lane onto the sidewalk to fix the seat and where is my water bottle? New side entry cage to fit the smaller frame but it looks like it didn't hold my water bottle in place - and I didn't even know it was gone. Good thing I commute home with a buddy, my commute is only 6 miles (up a mountain but let's not sweat the little things) and I'm stopping at my LBS for a brake adjustment on the way home.

Back on the bike and oh yeah - That's the ride I remember.....so much better and no more knee pain! Commute in is down that mountain I climb every night so I don't need any water going to work......good thing.

Rode over the wooden bike path bridges just like I do every day but ya know, they just don't feel as rough and tumble on the new bike as they did on the old.........the carbon forks maybe......and/or the carbon seatpost? Slightly nervous the rough ride on the briges are going to just crack those carbon forks all the pieces (ok...deep down inside I know they won't but my first time on carbon forks LOL)

What an awesome feeling every time I stopped to realize that putting my foot down wasn't a risky business anymore because the frame is so much smaller....and I'm so much closer to the ground. Funny how one adapts to what one has and accepts it as normal....until they learn just how wrong they are.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Rode to work and after school was officially over I hopped on my bike and rode 25 miles. Gosh it felt good to be on my bike and in turn I had a great ride. I'm pretty certain (at least 95% certain)that I'm going to ride a century on Saturday so I pushed myself today and will relax tomorrow and Friday when it comes to milage and intensity.

I went on a nice little cruise this evening for about an hour. I rode about a mile on a hwy that I probably shouldn't ride that time of day, but had no problems. It was just to get to a nice little country road.

Saw a wild turkey, beaver, lots of cows. I spoke to all of them. No one amswered.

    About 15 miles.

A very short ride today, in between rain showers. Finally rain and a cool day to bike. Although my time out was short, the weather was lovely.

Finally made it past the 50 mile mark today (50 miles in one ride that is). We finally did a ride that we have been talking about for about a month. It includes 4400 ft. of climbing, and was a grand total of 51.9 miles. We didn't go all that fast (15.0 mph/avg), but that was partially because I didn't feel so hot when we first started out, and because I wanted to pace myself. And I underestimated myself. When we finished the ride, I could have easily gone futher.

I felt good, and I'm glad we did it. We'll have to change the route next time (we were on a state road that had WAY TOO many cars on it), but I'm glad we finally did what we've been talking about!

And finally! A 50+ mile ride. The next goal is the metric century. This is doable. And then the goal after that will be a true centry.

And as an aside, for those of you who suggested carrying fig newtons - THANK YOU!!! I can't stand GU. The stuff has the consistency of snot. But fig newtons? That I can do. Great suggestion. And (yes, I made DH admit to this, although it took some arm-twisting), my Camelbak is a great idea, because I could carry more water, and since he went through 3.5 bottles of water (and yes, his bike is set up to carry 2), the fact that I was carrying extra water was a bonus. So there!

No ride today -- darn it!

Took my bike along with me to LBS when I went to pick up the seat post that had been on order. Lovely sales guy installed it for me, and checked the bottom bracket, which had a "clunk" -- the only description I could give. He gave it to the service department, and they looked for a while, then said they needed a couple of hours, since they were going to replace the "bottom bracket." I don't think that part has pretty paint, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the pedals and their connection to the bike. I had to pick it up before work, late in the afternoon, and then worked til dark...

While I was in the shop, though, I had time to covet. Some bikes on sale, some not on sale, ohhhh pretty! And I was noticing -- drop handle bar shape is so much different from back when I was a teen and had a ten speed. And they all looked small, and dainty, and agile. They had some funky looking mountain bikes too -- those Cannondale bikes with the "lefty" front ends, wow, they pretty much freaked me out! There was also, I think a Gary Fisher Fat Possum? with a lovely orange glittery finish. LOTS of glitter, great orange color!

The Specialized Ruby Comp, and that blue and white Cannondale something or other, though....

Coveting was fun, but I need to shake this cold and do some riding!
