I've been on both a five-person co-ed team (only female) and a four-person co-ed team (three women and one guy).
That team started of with the idea of a womens team, but we couldn't get any other gals to commit. It was kind of cool to be the only co-ed team competing that was "backwards". I was thinking you could start to put together your womens team and then get a guy at the last minute if you can't fill that last spot. It's make you guys "different" and the crowd always loves that!![]()
The last few endurance events I have done (I don't really race any more)I've done solo. For me it's the only way to go. It's a whole different event. I think success in a solo event has more to do with your mental attitude and general personality than with your fitness or training. Of course you have to have the saddle time in, but you also need to assess your goal and motivation. If you are basically a wacky loner who loves long, involved discussions with yourself (out loud is best :P ) then you'll do fine.
