    24-hour racing

Last year I raced a 24-hours of Adrenalin on a 5-person co-ed team. There were 4 guys and me. I had a great time! It was one of my best experiences on a bike.

They're doing some preliminary planning for this year's race and I'm trying to decide between 3 choices. Anybody have any suggestions?

    A. Ride on the same team as last year. We had great chemistry and we did pretty well in our class. There was no bickering or arguing or any little drama fits. It was great.

    B. Ride on a 5-person women's team. The problem here is that there are only 2 women committed. I would be the third. I don't know who the last two will be. I probably won't get to do as many laps on this team because over-all the team will probably be slower than my co-ed team from last year.

    C. Solo... Last year I did 4 laps (11 miles per lap) and I know I could have done more. I'm not saying I could do 15 solo, but I'd be happy with maybe 10. This would take quite a bit more training. Maybe this isn't a real possibility this year. Maybe next year.

    Any ideas?

I've been on both a five-person co-ed team (only female) and a four-person co-ed team (three women and one guy).
That team started of with the idea of a womens team, but we couldn't get any other gals to commit. It was kind of cool to be the only co-ed team competing that was "backwards". I was thinking you could start to put together your womens team and then get a guy at the last minute if you can't fill that last spot. It's make you guys "different" and the crowd always loves that!

The last few endurance events I have done (I don't really race any more)I've done solo. For me it's the only way to go. It's a whole different event. I think success in a solo event has more to do with your mental attitude and general personality than with your fitness or training. Of course you have to have the saddle time in, but you also need to assess your goal and motivation. If you are basically a wacky loner who loves long, involved discussions with yourself (out loud is best :P ) then you'll do fine.
