    Two tri's in two weeks?

Hi all - been soaking up the wisdom of the boards for weeks, now I have a question of my own. I'm training for an olympic distance in early October (Pinehurst, for my fellow North Carolinians) - I've done lots of sprints in the past two seasons, but this will be my first oly. My problem is, the weekend before Pinehurst is Wilmington, a fun sprint that I did last year and that my boyfriend and all our tri friends want to do again this year. I'd hate to miss out on all the fun (it's not the same from the sidelines!) but I'm a little nervous about doing a sprint the week before my oly. On the other hand, maybe it will be good training! And hopefully I'll be in great shape for the sprint. Has anyone raced consecutive races like this? Any advice or tips?
    Thanks!

The way I see it a sprint the weekend before an Oly is not a big issue. Consider the length of a weekend workout, its likely in the same time range as a sprint should take. And you've said that the sprint is a fun race, so just think of it that way! Make sure that you give yourself some good recovery in those days right after and you should be fine for the Oly.

I think you'll love Olympic distance! Sprints always made me feel like I was finally warmed up about a 2km from the finish.

    Oh well . . .

That decision was made for me - while i was hemming and hawing, the sprint filled up! 1200 people - NC triathletes do not mess around. So I'll take my chances on the waitlist and relax and enjoy the rest of my training . . .
