    a little off topic-cc skiing

Hi All, well winter for me is almost here and I have been pondering cross country skiing as an alternative to indoor riding this year. I am wondering if I can get some people's thoughts about traditional vs. skate skiing. I'm looking to try one or the other out with some rental equipment before I invest, but am wondering why someone might pick one type over the other--pluses and minuses of each, or the such. I would love any input!! Thanks, happy riding (whether it be indoor or outdoor)

Skate skiing is much more technique oriented and a much more killer intense workout. You would definitely want to take some lessons. I'm not sure if you can do a traditional stride with skate skis... I do know that's it's very hard to skate on regular skis as the length is not correct for skating, they are too long. With a traditional ski, you can mosey along or do a real workout if they set a track.
