    July 11th Rides

I did something a little different today.
I'm probably going to do a brevet series next year, and hopefully, fininaces, time, and training permitting, a 1200K randonne.
I put some lights on Cannondale road bike and took her for an early morning spin. The lights were fine. The only problem was I could not read my computer, except under a street light. Did shave 3-4 minutes off my route, compared to riding it on my Bike Friday.

Wow, Fred, that's quite a goal!

I had a slow commute to work because of my awful sqealing brakes. I cleaned my bike over the weekend and I think something I put on my bike got on my rims.

More hill training today. Rode 26 miles up the canyon and back home. It's pretty up there, and the air is cooler. Saw some deer.
We left about 30 minutes later than usual, and boy is there a difference! More traffic and people out, the sun is up and shining over the mountain, and it's a bit warmer. Shaved two minutes off my time from the last time I did this route.
If you can read this, take a pull.

I usually don't post on this thread, and it's sort of funny now that I can't ride I decide to post here!

Well, I did my first workout since the whole hospital/clot thing 2 weeks ago (with of course the bonus hospital ER excursion thrown in last week). Anyway, it went GREAT. I was so relieved. Since I can't ride for 3 - 6 months, I will be doing regular spin classes, weights and trail running. So today was weights and spin - I couldn't believe how great I felt. My friend who spins next to me kept looking over and checking on me to make sure I was okay, which was sweet.

So I am definitely working on a comeback!!!

Sounds like a great plan -- I hope your recovery goes smoothly!

My bike is in the shop until Thursday afternoon.

Yay Sarah ... but keep takin' it EASY...

It was raining hard this morning but... those are the miles that count, the REAL "Green Miles," and I had that GOre-tex suit (which isn't impervious, but it was also WARM and I'd just as soon have just gotten wet... I like being wet...) and the '68 Schwinn has fenders...
Just 100% humidity at 5:00; charged out and did 100 ferocious miles (at least 16 mph msot of it - haul, fenders, HAUL!) and arrived at the club ride in a right lather. All told, 40 miles & I'm FEELING IT (and I have my best ranking ever at bikejournal, but that'll not last over the weekend 'cause I'm goin' away...might go 50 HOURS between bike rides

I haven't road my my bike in two days! I am either having some really bad allergies or I am getting a cold. Not sure sometimes they both make me feel bad. But I have no energy and my nose is driving me nuts! No cough... yet!
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Ho ho, Maillotpois! Glad you posted here! It's totally fitting that you do so on the day of your first post-hospital workout.

I had such a bleah ride today. My goodness. I was tired, my legs were tired, I was slow. Did the last pre-STP ride, 23 miles. Such a contrast to last week, when we did 100 on the tandem, then 40 on the tandem two days later, then 54 on my Bianchi three days later, and felt great. Today I just dragged all the way. Good thing I'll have the next three days to get over it before we start the ride to Portland at 4 am Sat. And it would probably be good to get some full night sleeping in!

However, it WAS nice on the trail as usual. As long I get my dose of bald eagle and great blue heron sightings, I'm happy about that.
