Anyone tried the Lake biking sandals?

If so, I'm interested to know if and why you like them. I tried on a pair of the new Shimano sandals, and they're so huge and heavy that they felt like boots!

    Thumbs up

Yes, I bought some about a month ago and really like them.

I wanted a pair of the 2005 Shimano sandals (after reading Nanci's review) but couldn't find any, so decided to take a chance with the Lakes. They are a little heavy, but I really don't notice this while riding. I haven't done anything over 20 miles with them yet so don't know how they'll feel for longer distances, but they've been very comfortable right from the start. They hold your foot securely, and although my feet sweat alot (hence my desire for sandals) air circulation keeps my feet fairly dry and comfortable. I've only worn them on warm days and without socks.

If you do plan to do any "serious" riding with them you might need to raise your saddle a bit since the sole is quite thick. The sole is pretty stiff too, but you can still walk comfortably in them.

I think its sad what Shimano has done to their sandals in 2006. Might just as well wear shoes. I don't know what I'll do when me present pair of Shimano sandals wears out....... I hope by then, they've either gone back to the old style, or I can find some other ones out there. I've tried the Lakes and they just don't fit as well on my feet.

Annie, maybe you should buy a spare pair of 2005 Shimanos while there's still a chance!

I will, if I could find some! I need the smallest size they have. I think its 37-38. No shop in my area has any of the '05's left at all.

Will either the Lake or Shimano sandals work with Look pedals? I don't want to change my pedals but need open air shoes for the summer. My husband banned my Sidi's from the house because they smell so bad. On another topic, any suggestions for how to de-stink bike shoes?
