Since the board has been kinda quiet lately I thought I'd share. This is also a cool story about women and riding and boosting self-esteem

I was on a casual road-ride with "the girls", all women who have been riding 5 years or less. They are impressive women; moms, professionals, competetive athletes in other sports.

We were heading home, turned a corner and faced a STIFF head wind. Until this point we had been sort of straggled along the road, chatting, not too worried about speed.

We regrouped and I asked them if they wanted to try a rotating echelon ( good description here )

We had tried one once before with not-so-spectacular results. This time they were game.

Everybody hunkered down and stayed focused. What can I say....it was AMAZing. We were like one entity; a fully functioning machine.

When we all sat up, after we turned a corner and ducked the wind, the girls started whooping it up. We maintained 21-23 mph, and no one felt tired!

We can hardly wait for an opportunity to try our new-found team-time-trial skills again.

Look out USPS (ok maybe not)

yeah, isn't that the best feeling?! I did a century ride in Northern MN a couple of weeks ago--it was 44 degrees that day and 20+mph winds. Miles 1-10 I absolutely thought--what in the hell am I thinking? I could be home in my bed snuggling in my down comforter right now! But then a couple friends of mine that I was riding with got in the paceline mode and took it to that wind!! As we rode along we yelled to others to hop on in and amazingly our paceline got bigger and bigger and the next 10 miles flew by. Finally we got to change directions and my friends and I could go into chat mode again, but I think I would've been turning around come mile 20 if it hadn't been for our great teamwork...score-- one for team work, zero for wind!!

ahhhhh that's what it's all about!

Nothing beats team work! The thrill of a paceline is a real natural high.
You gave me a big smile reading this thanks!
