I like the TYR Tri suit best.
I bought my TYR (solid TRI suit Navy/Lime) from the Team Estrogen site. I am also an XL and it fits great. You do need to wear your sports bra underneath when wearing this suit Good luck finding the perfect one for you.

Hi,
I'm in the market for my first tri suit and dont know which ones are the best. I only found one store that sold tri-gear in it, and they only had 1 kind of tri suit left. It was a Danskin, and i liked it, but definitely needed to go up a size. So now im back to finding one on the internet in an XL. What brand/style is most comfortable for you all?

Last year I wore a one piece by Louis Garneau. I really wanted the one piece so that it wouldn't bunch up during the swim. It worked really well, but I didn't like the color, or how I looked in the photos (silly, huh?) so this year I wore the two piece outfit that I trained in last year. It is made by De Soto and I love the color and it wasn't a problem at all during the swim. I was a little uncomfortable wearing such tight fitting clothes out in public, but I got over it and understand that there is a reason for the form hugging fit.
Good luck finding the right outfit and have a great time doing your tri! Send us a report!
Hi, and welcome!
I have only ever tried one. It's a Sugoi, and I got it here, on the TE site, on the recommendation of Susan, one of the site admins. I wear it in sprint tris where wetsuits aren't allowed. It's very comfortable. I just like being able to air out my midsection by wearing shorts and a t-shirt for the bike and run on a longer tri.

Well, I made my purchase. Scary making it online, but they have a 15 day return policy, so if its aweful ill return it. I totally get what you're saying about hating the way you look in pics! I really would like to feel proud of the way i look!
I made the decision based on the inseem. I really wanted at least an 8 inch for my legs that like to rub together, and the one womens suit that offered that was the Sugoi Wireless Tri Suit (8.5), but it was hard to find because its last years stock.
This is how it stacked up. I made a list of all the suits i liked that came in at least an XL, in case anyone else is looking (my pics wont show up here, but you can google them):

Looks like a great choice. I especially like the black bottom. I think you will like the one piece and it really helps to keep the transition time down when you don't have to mess with clothing. Just remember to wear a sports bra that wicks water too.

Hi, quick question - What do people recommend for a sports bra that wicks water?
I did a sprint tri last month, and wore a regular NIKE sports bra. I wore it under my tri top for swimming and then left it on for the rest of the race.
When I changed into my pajamas later that night, I saw two welts on my breasts where the bra had chafed them. I must have been so prumped during the race, I didn't even feel it happening, tee hee. They didn't hurt much, but it has been a month since my sprint tri, and they haven't totally disappeared either!![]()
So... back to my original question. What do you wear for a sports bra during the swim section of a triathlon; one that will wick away water and dry quickly for the other parts?
Thank you,

I've got a bra that Susan Otcenas recommended, from Road Runner Sports. I don't remember what model it is. It has no snaps or wires. It give pretty good compression and bounce control, even for my 36D. Still wet at the end of the race, but no chafing.

I would look for a sports bra that is dry fit. I used one and had no problems. (can't remember what brand right now)
Stay away from lyrca in a sports bra if you'll be swimming in it. It holds a surprising amount of moisture. Obviously anything cotton is also a no go. But the most important thing is your comfort. Think about the run first of all. If its a bra you can run in, you can biked in it too. The reverse isn't necessarily true. Look for a mesh back. Since you need the support in the front, not the back, something that is lighter weight and quick drying is possible there. In the summer heat you'll definately appreciate it.
As for the tri suit, I think you'll like the Sugoi. I have a Sugoi tri suit, I think its the same model. I love it, I really do. Watch out for two things though when you take it on and off. Body markings on the shoulders may rub off on the suit as you pull it back on, so just be careful to lift the suit over the marker. And, if it has the two small pockets on the back, take care when using a toilet or whatever that you don't lose things out of those as the pockets will be upside down as the torso of the suit is hanging down. Other wise, its super comfortable, and I never have a problem with it. Great in the water, and definately good on the bike.

Both TYR and Zoot Sports make bra style tri tops that I used to wear under my race suit. The Zootz seem to be more supportive than the TYR, but both are bathing suit fabric.
Using Vaseline or Body Glide can help reduce chaffing.
Unfortunately the hours of training have taken their toll and I don't need one anymore:-)
On the sports bra note...
I've been a swimmer for years, and I run and bike (on the exercise bike for now) to vary my workouts. I really want to try a triathlon, but I have a hard enough time trying to find a sports bra for running, let alone one for a tri. (I'm very top-heavy, to the point of not being able to breathe properly if I run with the "wrong" bra) Can anyone recommend something quick-drying for the pool, but extremely supportive for the run?
I'm a little late to post here, but i bought the Enell bra - christine.audiss@bensherman.com
and it is single handedly one of the best purchases ive ever made. Its made for larger breasted women, but i think it fits all sizes. It dries extremely quickly, is comfortable, looks good, and best of all, there is literally NO jiggle. its amazing! its 100% worth the money!
