Rode nice 50 km with a workmate today, so nice, so warm, so sunny, just FABULOUS! Too bad I had to go to work for the evening. I think I need to figure out how to log those kilometers somewhere (where exactly do you guys do it??) since I've done already 800 km this year which is pretty well for me

The weather is still terrible here today (30C, 70% humidity, no wind) so I spent most of the day feeling overheated and wilted. I really wanted to get out for a ride, but figured I had better wait till nearer sunset. Went out for a short ride this evening, watching the sunset over the river. Really nice evening. And it had cooled down to a bearable 22C. Did a short ride along the river to the next village and back, only 7 miles in total. But Trek420 told me I should do a recovery ride after yesterdays 40miles. Hopefully this can be considered an appropriate recovery ride. Felt great and once I was out, I really wanted to go further but I'm glad I didn't. I got a bit of a heat rash on my legs in the sun yesterday and this short ride today was brining it back out. Time to dig out the aloe gel again and turn the fan back on.

I got in 30.5 miles this afternoon. I'm hosting a 45 mile club ride on the 23rd and went out to check the milage on the first part of the route I had put together in my head. I think it will another fun, scenic ride with very low traffic. It is a beautiful day here in Kentucky, sun is shining, temps in the mid 70's, slight breeze a perfect day to spend some time outdoors taking in all the sights and sounds.

I woke up at 5:30 and it was actually COOL outside for a change! Got my first ride on the bike in almost two weeks. Only did 22 miles, but it was still great!

Today I walked. About 7 miles in all. Tummy still a little tender since Friday, so I thought I'd go easy on it. Also, walking often cures my writer's block. Not today . Oh well. I did see some pretty birds, though: a bright yellow, dark-winged warbler (Magnolia warbler?), lots of red-winged blackbirds, several cardinals, a lapwing ... Also got fishdr's prize sent off. It should arrive by Friday, fishdr. Ready to fuel your ride if you're back in the saddle. Hope you and your bike are both in good shape by then.

Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

    2 goals down...

    1) I rode my age plus a bit today

    2) I went out to the area near the airport - the only area of town I hadn't yet made it to. You know, I think they may call that area the Highlands for a reason. Oh, but there was one place where the whole world just opened up in front of me. {happy sigh} I'm going up there again.

I saw at least 7 blue herons fishing, had a good conversation with a stranger regarding hex wrenches and other things, and picked up a bike bell/compass for DH.

Average speed was abysmal, but my smiles/mile ratio was off the charts in the other direction.

All in all a darn good ride.

I rode 48 miles today. Went on a new loop to Sudbury MA. It was good to go a different route. It was a glorious sunny day which was extremely welcome after so much Northeast rain. My 12 year old daughter comes to visit tomorrow evening and I am looking forward to doing some riding with her in the next 10 days. Hope for sunny weather!

I actually only rode one hour this morning. This was my first time back on my road bike in 6 weeks since my accident (broke the Hamate bone in my wrist).

I knew I'd be greatly out of shape - was actually fairly pleased with that part. My wrist still greatly hurt holding onto the hoods. I'm much more comfortable on my frankenstein bike which has a more ergonomic grip. I made effort to relax the grip when hitting road bumps. I actually caught one bump straight on and brought tears to my eyes.

I'll continue riding the road bike, probably just every other ride.

I did an easy ride with the group today. Mondays is usually an easy ride and after yesterday's 38 miles pushing against the wind and my leg workout at the gym today I didn't want to push it too much. We did 18.5 miles tonight, could have gone with the group that went further but I knew I couldn't (didn't want to) keep up with their 18-20 pace! What a beautiful night for a ride, only about 70 degrees and NO rain
